Turkey has no political conditions attached with its defence equipment sales to Bangladesh or other countries, said Turkish Ambassador Mustafa Osman Turan today, noting a long-term defence partnership with Bangladesh.
"Turkey always offers joint venture or technology transfer, which is equally applicable for Bangladesh," he said during a meeting with the members of the Diplomatic Correspondents Association, Bangladesh (DCAB) at the Turkish Embassy in the capital today.

Turkey has made big progress in the defence industry in the last 15 years against the backdrop that the advanced economies always attached some political conditions when it came to defence purchase –- something that prompted Turkey to be self-sufficient, the ambassador said.
"Turkey always provides maintenance, spare parts and there are no political conditions attached…we see this as a long term partnership, we see this as a reflection of our deep level of political relationship as well".
He said Turkey had delivered Multi-Launcher Rockets to Bangladesh and that the country is keen to have joint ventures in shipbuilding.
Asked what specific defence equipment Turkey is selling to Bangladesh, the Turkish diplomat said, "There are several conversations between various Turkish companies and Bangladesh counterparts. So I am unable to give any specific details".
The Turkish chief of naval force will visit Bangladesh at the end of this month, he added. Turkish President Erdogan is also likely to visit Bangladesh soon, he said but did not specify the date.
Following the execution of Jamaat leader Motiur Rahman Nizami in May 2016, Turkey withdrew its ambassador to Bangladesh, bringing the bilateral relations under severe strain.
The strained relations began healing when Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina wrote to Turkish President Erdogan, condemning the coup attempt to overthrow him in July 2016. Consequently, Ankara sent a new ambassador to Dhaka later that year.
Asked about Turkey's position on the prosecution of Jamaat-e-Islami leaders, the ambassador said, "There was a misinterpretation and it was blown out of the context".
Mustafa said the trade between the two countries was $850 million two years ago but now it has risen to $1.2 billion and both the countries set a target of taking the trade volume to $3 billion.

Well I'm looking forward to Turkish brothers offering ToT for the frigate builds, first one/two in Turkey - then the rest in Bangladesh with Turkish Yard technical assistance.

Although Damen is also involved, I think their involvement is more on the commercial sector of shipbuilding than defence.

Wrong. They will have to ask sultan @Hakikat ve Hikmet for permission

In Turkiye's long-term perspective, the high military deterrence and economic stability of Bangladesh, Pakistan, Indonesia, Malaysia and other friendly states indirectly serve Turkish interests as well. Because we see our long-term interests parallel with these friendly and brotherly states. Our political interest is already based on the strengthening of Bangladesh. So, as the ambassador said, there is a clear distinction. For this reason, SSB fully open to industrial cooperation(or open system architectures with non downgraded variants) with friendly and brotherly countries in a scale that no other western arms manufacturer can compete.

This effect cannot be fully felt at the moment because we still have a long way to go in terms of industrial deepening, but in the near future we will more visible as openning many technological capabilities or latest systems to the acquisition by friendly nations.

Western sources usually tend to use these as political leverage. This makes the national security and threat perceptions of our friends, -including Turkiye-, a bargaining chip for arms sellers. This is something we can no longer accept.

true , this chart supports the argument
the author who conducted the survey is a serving BN officer (not some unreliable defence blogger for those who doubt)

It looks like Turks are respected by both Pakistanis and Bangalis. Turkey should play a role of mediator to bring these two countries closer specially many in Bangladesh who are not willing to let go of the past.

At conflict with evry single neighbor but wants friendship with countries several thousand km away...doesbt sound like good politics
I see you crying in all threads about Turkiye, recently. Do you want a handkerchief?

@waz, bro, can you take a look at the off-topic/flaming-baiting messages in this friend's recent message history?

Not every neigbor. We have no problem with Bulgaria, Georgia or Iraq. Even with Iran, we do not have a big problem.

Our "beloved" neighbors with whom we have a problem are sacks of shit attacking us directly.

For example, Syria fed the PKK for years, regardless of its capacity. Our work with that regime has only just begun, this is nothing...

Likewise, Armenia spewed hatred towards us in every environment. Either she becomes a human or she drowns in her hatred.

Another "beloved" neighbor, Greece, combined what Syria and Armenia did. Looking at those two, I leave it to your imagination what we plan.

Yep @Apollon please stop the off-topic posts.

Its not off topic. Turkey is at conflict with evry neighbor, but tries to shudder that with fake friendship offers to countries several thousand km away. Thats not sustainable.

I’ve asked nicely. Won’t again. Keep it at threads for it.

Does anyone wonder why members named Apollon and Foinikas are active at the same time, systematically posting the same content and disappearing at the same time? Any guess?

Instead of discussing topics and concepts one by one and in related topics; basically, -just like what we do in the Bangladesh defense forum right now-, they spamming threads, by mixing concepts and events with flaming-bating methods and manipulated it as it suits them. And thus they try taking all the titles out of context which the words of Turkey/Turkiye/Turk//Turkish/Turkic is mentioned in it. I bet if the admins look at the most searched words by these members, they will find Turkey, or similiar words. I am so sure that if I am wrong, I will not post on this forum for a month. An ideal tactic for forum environments 10 years ago. But nobody eats these cheap tricks anymore.

Below is a partial list of weapons in a warship. So, you want our Turkish brothers to teach us to build ALSO these weapons that we will manufacture without putting in much efforts. Not bad. But how it is possible, I am not sure.

Did something as bright as your suggestion happen in our Golden Bangladesh in the past?
  • Mk 38 Mod 3 Machine Gun System (MGS) Setting the standard for shipboard defense against small, fast, and agile surface threats. ...
  • Bofors 40 Mk4 Naval Gun. ...
  • 57mm Naval Gun System. ...
  • FUZE 3P Ammunition. ...
  • Electromagnetic (EM) Railgun. ...
  • Hypervelocity Projectile. ...
  • Mk 45 Mod 4 Naval Gun System.
