I feel very dissapointed seeing English , French and many other languages more than turkic i can understand english but i looked at french and as far i found out about 70-100million native french speakers and 190million secong langauage speakers now if we join all turkic languages thats about 200 million worldwide just first language think about it most words are even similar we all need to speak same language e.g UN theres 5 official languages english french arabic spanish and russian , i now wished we forced our language we done so wrong in the past , anyway we applied for it to be official language aswell but now with only turkey , azerbaijan , iraqi turkmens and a few more proper speaking like us clearly understandable and the rest only understandable when spoken slow or cant understand

.
maybe we can do more of what turgut ozal was trying , more educational programs and a total reform from other nations

. .
oh sorry mate chinese was init aswell it was 5 languages forgot that but turkish should be there for sure it should be 6 languages but for turkish to be there we need the turkic countries to do some reforms and change some parts and make all our languages same its similar now but not same or hard to understand , however these are all same and can understand .1 turkeys turkish , cyprus turks turkish , iraqi turkmen turkish , azerbaijan turkish and a few more cant remember i can understand kazakh and stuff but when they speak slow most of itt and also if you check the similarities on internet there soo so similar but accent and other stuff make it abit harder

.
Arabic, Turkish, Farsi and their derivatives should be the most spoken languages, not nasty inferior languages like english or french or any of those latin-greek trash languages

.
urdu/hindi are nearly same languages, only difference is the writing, more people speak urdu/hindi then even chinese(i guess) so tops all other languages

.
Turkish language with reforms from other countries will be in top 5 languages in years to come

The only language Muslims should promote among themselves is 'Arabic', because, it is the language of the Quran and is needed to understand the Quran, because during trans-literation the actual meaning is lost sometimes. Arabic should become the Lingua Franca among Muslim Nations.

I'm not an Arab and besides Quranic Arabic is very different from Present day Arabic, or so I hear. Also, why do you think Iran, Turkey, China, France, Germany and a whole host of other countries haven't switched to English ? Answer : There is a school of thought out there which says that an individual may learn any language but can only be creative and expressive in his own ! Which is to say that our critical thinking is best fostered in our mother tongues. I happen to agree with their assessment because of personal experience. And I haven't touched on the logistical nightmare of teaching Arabic or English to whole swathes of a population who'd have to learn it from scratch.

The general mix that is spoken seems similar. Urdu borrows its words significantly from Farsi while Hindi is one of the MANY derived languages from the venerable Sanskrit. As a generic usage, both seem similar but there's a world of difference grammatically and in terms of vocabulary.

I think it is best that we speak our languages properly and teach them to our future generations properly. The day we are able to make our countries into their true worth, our languages will automatically be recognized worldwide. :)

Correct me if I am wrong Turkish members; but aren't there multiple Turkic sub-languages all over central Asia?

But he does have a point. Having Arabic as your language of Islamic countries would give you a strong identity. It would unite you into a single body and stop any infighting. Language is a powerful uniting tool in many parts of the world. For example, the French aren't really concerned about marrying African origin folks migrated there or even having a lot of Algerians inter-marrying. But they are fanatic about their language.

If Pakistan for example, adopts Arabic as national and mandated language, it would erase all the present inner barriers within your country, give you an identity and maybe even economic benefits of being associated with oil-rich Arab countries.

yes it is, in some few minutes of talking i can easily understand a Azeri, Khyrgyz, east turkmen, tatari, and some more languages that i can't remember right now. don't know how i would understand the Turkmeni and Uzbek language since they seem completely changed and doesn't sound familiar to me whatsoever.

What a backwards individual you are. You want people to give up their language and culture all because the language use in the Qu'ran is Arabic, and it's not even exactly the Arabic spoken in many Arab countries. Thank God your rubbish idea will never happen.

1. I am a Muslim, not only by birth, but also by choice. In order to understand the 'complete manual' of how to spend life - The Quran - it is imperative to learn Arabic. As a Muslim I feel that it is utterly important to learn the present day & the older Arabic.

2. Lingua Franca is a kind of bridge language that is used for communication purposes. You know the English, then there were, in the past: French, German, Chinese, Swahili, Arabic, Latin and many other languages that people used to communicate their dealings, thoughts and ideas. Arabic seems to be the best language that could become a common language because of historical reasons.

Almost every Muslim child reads Quran (without understanding it), it will become a lot easier to teach the language that somebody can already read; plus, there will be many benefits.

3. As for the parental culture and language, it is just a part of ancestor worship. We cherish everything we inherit from our parents, even religion, not matter how abhorrent it is. A culture and language is only good if it does not cause human suffering; if it does not create class based societies and it does not promote injustice for the people.
