Hisar-O Medium Altitude Air Defense Missile System was deployed in Syria by Turkish Army. Prof Dr. İsmail Demir, President of Defense Industries said in a statement to M5 Magazine:
“We have deployed the system in Syria because HİSAR-O will be more effective due to the range.”

The HİSAR-O missile system is intended to protect military bases, troops, ports, and other national strategic assets against aerial threats flying at medium altitudes.

The system can defend airborne threats such as combat aircraft, cruise missiles, helicopters, and unmanned aerial vehicles. SSB awarded a contract to ASELSAN and Roketsan in June 2011 to design and develop the HİSAR low and medium-altitude air defence missile systems indigenously. As the main contractor, ASELSAN designed and developed missile launching system, command and control system, fire control system, 3D search radar, and electro-optic systems.

.
now we will see how many mig29 or russian su35 it shoot down ,it is time to prove effectiveness of this air defense

7 May interview:

Regarding HİSAR-A and HİSAR-O, the need for these systems has become all too apparent during recent operations, and we have seen that the need for a medium-altitude system is more urgent. HİSAR-O has become operational in the field with certain elements, but there are still works to be completed.

Regarding HİSAR-A, we changed the Hisar-A orders to Hisar-O due to the need for a medium-altitude air defence system in the field. We will reduce the number of Hisar-A orders. We started the serial production of Hisar-A; however, we will modify it for the Hisar-O system. So yes, the serial production of Hisar-A has been practically started. The experience we gained in the HİSAR-A and HİSAR-O will be transferred to SİPER. Equipping these missiles with longer-range radars and seekers is also on the agenda.

In acc to changing operational requirements, the decisions that was mentioned (a few of them) above were taken a while ago. In acc to studies to be applied;

Hisar-A (It passed into serial production) missiles will be produced limited numbers for (most likely) solely autonomous Hisar vehicles. Aselsan has performed a great research and development studies to convert this vehicle into autonomous SAM system.

The Hisar-A missiles will be enhanced into the level of Hisar-O (~30km range, 15+km altitude) in production period and The remaining requirements will be met with Hisar-O missiles (passed serial production)

The capabilities of Hisar-O is being enhanced (2018 decision). During serial production period of Hisar-O, New Hisar-O missiles (~50km range) will be released from mass production line.

Nokta (Hisar-N) is a Hisar variant to be used solely by Turkish Air Force. Acc to info, N variant will have a better altitude (~20km) performance.

Hisar-G will be the name of Aselsan/Roketsan base platforms (Radar, FCS, chassis) equipped with G family missiles developed by Tubitak SAGE (Gokdoğan, Bozdoğan, Akdoğan(?), G-40 Naval VL SAM). G+ (ER variants of G missiles) will fill the gap between 50km and 120km ranges. Similar concept with Israeli Spyder missile system. (Spyder-Er is Hisar-G+)

Thanks to experiences gained from Hisar family (Roketsan) and Goktuğ family (Tubitak SAGE) missiles, The Siper/Hisar-U long altitude missiles are being developed and to be inducted into armed forces in 2023. Siper will be the missile of Land and Naval Forces. By unique technologies like dual mode seeker, dual pulse rocket motors, This missiles will have a perfect precision at a range around 120km.

"Long altitude long range" anti-ballistic missile defense program (Arrow equivalent). Aselsan has commenced development of 5 DoF divert attitude control system. Not much info revealed about this program yet.

Although you have a good experiense for SAMs, Israel will have a very strong rival in this field of defense until 2024. Most likely, We will join into harsh competitions for some markets. Turkey is advancing by testing own technologies in real battle environments at different geographies. We will collect the fruits of being battle-proven. :)

HISAR-O is not deployed in Syria, official didn't say anything of the sort. It's placed securely within Turkish territory close to the Syrian border.
