No one is denying that AKP managed to do well for the first 8-10 years (2002-2010/2012). But you have to be able to differentiate. You have to be able to see what's happening now.
You can't close your eyes and pretend that everything is good. TBH I know some "cahil" (ignorant/illiterate) people and they're good family friends. When you hear these old people talk, You'll think how can they be so gullible. how can they have blind faith ? And the funny thing is, one of these people said "well, he's a good muslim we should vote on him. He won't screw us over like those politician in the past who drink alcohol."
I was pretty shocked at how shallow they think, how shortsighted they are. How can a country ever develope when the population are as narrowminded as that ?
Afterwards I pointed out how RTE and AKP worked with Fetullah Gülen and pointed out she might as well draw a line somewhere because Feto is also a good muslim according to her.
Which made her think twice, but I could see how she deviated and held on to her first statement about voting on RTE. It was too complicated for her and she didn't want to think bad things about a muslim who she supported. People like her are sheep, they follow the shepherd.
With regards to lending money to buy a house, I assume your brother is from Europe, so the inflation and the raped turkish liras low value is definitely good for a European Turk. Who can buy an apartment much cheaper because the value of the turkish lira has decreased so much.
People are basically greedy, as long as they don't have to pay the price of borrowing money they'll be satisfied. It's like the turkish saying "beni isirmayan yilan bin yil yasasin" (the snake that doesn't bite me may live for a 1000 years). If Turkey has to pay 8% interest to borrow 100.000 USD, why should the citizen pay any less ? Who is going to cover the cost if not the person who borrows the money ? The remaining 80 mio. citizens ?
