Turkey’s anti-ship ballistic missile program is a game changer in E.Med?

It is understood that Turkey is developing a new variant of Bora tactical ballistic missiles for naval applications and New Bora will have an active seeker head which will make it an effective ballistic missile system for anti-ship engagements. Current range of Bora missile with a 470kg warhead is around 300-350km. Bora-2 will be revealed soon and it is predicted Block-2 variant will reach 500 + km ranges. A tactical ballistic missile with hypersonic speeds delivering 500kg of warhead to a ship's hull will pose a serious challenge to any power posing a threat to Turkey's benefits in the Turkish seas.

Great. I can imagine, our new Bora's will rain to enemy fleet to destroy them without any casulties. Our bayraktars will detect And Bora's will rip them apart. It is a game changer in Mediterranean.

Send the seeker head to us (i.e if we are not already thinking of mating our anti ship cruise missile seakers on BMs already). Although we have CM-400 AKG but we would be needing anti-ship BMs as well.

Something tells me that we would be needing those in next 3-5 years.

Would be great for Pakistan... as We know Indian navy is pretty superior. With this way You can destroy their aircraft carrier And naval assets without any human casulties... would be a game changer for You as well. And a note' the bigger the target is, it will be easier to hit. A great weapon against Aircraft carriers...

Ballistic missile projects, where the Turkish defense industry acts most discreetly, most difficult area to find detailed information. However, there is information that emerged over time based on open intelligence. "General acceptence" is Bora missiles flies in a quasi-ballistic trajectory with an apogee of around 40 km. Depending on this parameter, it is assumed that the terminal phase can reach +5 mach speed.

However, as you know, ballistic missiles have very steep attack angles. Due to its destructive power and flight profile, it can be an ideal system for the suppression of coastal elements or in large floating platforms such as aircraft carriers.

TRG-122, TRG-300 and TRG-230 are the main systems which have been evaluated within the scope for navy with its guidance sensitivity. It can be used as an element to support amphibious troops, especially in landing operations. Because the attack profiles of these systems are based on saturation of the target. Numerous photos of the test fires of this evaluations have also been published online. Hit accuracy is a very important criterion for TAF because of its doctrins. Hence, both large-scale rocket systems and ballistic missile systems continue to improve espacially in this critera. These capability increases bring new areas of evaluation.

welcome to Iranian club of tactical Anti_ship ballistic missiles, we have been saying that for 20 years now, what you are describing as Block-1 variant look like Persian gulf ballistic missile to me 300 km 650 kg warhead, not as powerful as Persian gulf ballistic missile as you can see but very close to it, the next generation Block-2 variant look to me like Fateh Mobin Anti_ship ballistic missile with 500 km range but if the warhead is the same on Block-2 then again not as powerful as Fateh Mobin, our missiles are shoot and forget type, independent from ground station ( internal guidance system ) if necessary or if it comes under electronic warfare i do not know about your Block-1 and 2 variants

The destruction effect of 500kg explosive warhead at hypersonic speeds at terminal phase will be more than enough to convert a frigate into a metal garbage my friend so I think It is an optimal solution to put an enemy surface ships out of active duty. Besides, Those missiles on tactical level must be fire/forget-update type. The missile will navigate into target zone with GPS/INS guidance and Rf/IIR seeker head will be activated in terminal phase.
