Turkey: 'We want to see 600,000 tourists from Israel'

Too hell with ummah ... make money... Muslim don't believe in tourism or recreation ...and you know well by now what they believe in .... lozzzzzzzzzz

.
Turkey's desperate for tourists.

Year Tourists
2015 36 244 632
2016 25 352 213
Diff. -30,05

Thats not true. Despite coup attempt, chaos and war at neighbouring, terror attacks from multiple sources still 25 million visitors we had last year. In 2017 it will probably somewhere arounf 30 million so we are not that desperate.

. . .
Last time was 1977 in a coalition, wish you nice holidays somewhere else. :)
And the region has gone down the shitter ever since! An Islamic revolution in Iran (*Pukes*), the rise of Al-Qaeda and the Taliban, 9/11, the war on terror, and the huge failure known as the Arab Spring.

I still love Turkey by the way. Hate what's happening to it, though.

If you mean islamization i can tell you, at least regarding population, Turks didnt get any more religious, there was an article in Hürriyet about islamisation, in mid 90s around 25% prefered sharia in contrary to 12% today so thats not my concern.
The problem is drifting towards autocracy, we are living in times where populists are on the winner side (Erdogan, Trump, Putin, Duerte, Brexit, Europe in general).

Yes, my concern is autocracy as well. I hate it when innocent people get imprisoned for speaking their minds. It creates an atmosphere of fear, and the sad thing is that this atmosphere if spreading like wildfire around the world.

But don't worry. I'm actually optimistic about the long-term future. The rise of right-wing populism around the world is only a temporary backlash to globalization and the liberal world order. It'll fail miserably within the next 10 years, if not sooner.

Think of it as an upward curve on a graph with a few downward fluctuations. Right now, we're witnessing a downward shift, but the overall trend is still going to be positive/upward.

So hopefully everything will be alright in the long-term. In the meantime, however, there's a lot of cause for concern. Hopefully Turkey preserves its "partly free" status in the freedom index and doesn't end up becoming another Russia.

Turkey: 'We want to see 600,000 tourists from Israel'
During visit to Tel Aviv, Recep Tayyip Erdogan's tourism minister says Turkey misses its Israeli tourists, and expects their number to double this year.

Turkey's Minister of Culture and Tourism Nabi Avcı said Tuesday that his country misses its Israeli tourists and expects their number to double in the coming year.

The tourism minister is currently visiting Israel to promote the two countries' touristic relations as well as inaugurate the Turkish center in Jaffa.

Avci said that Turkey expects the reconciliation between the countries to bring forth an influx of Israeli tourists to Turkish vacation spots, and that "the Turkish government welcomes Israeli tourists with open arms, as per Turkish tradition."

"Over the past year, approximately 260,000 Israeli tourists have visited Turkey, and we want to see 600,000 Israeli tourists over the next," he continued.

The minister arrived in Israel accompanied by a large delegation, and his is the most senior Turkey official to have visited Israel since the Israeli raid on the Gaza-bound Turkish boat Mavi Marmara, which claimed the lives of 10 Turkish citizens and led to 6 years of diplomatic freeze between the two countries.

The peak of Israeli tourism to Turkey was before the Marmara raid, totaling around 530,000 tourists a year.

Ummah is not gonna like this. :D

I guess you guys are still mad over the Arab revolt, eh?

Yes and Israel is the safest country on the planet ! I mean it was on Sesame Street where Hezbollah/Hamas etc. attack civvies, fire mortars in land and have thousands of missiles pointed and ready to go right ?Get over yourself, no country is completely safe, especially in the ME.
