Nihonjin, I have had enough of this from you. Myanmar is not a military government. It's a democracy. The military is very influential but it is a democracy none the less. Thailand on the other hand is a military dictatorship as they have taken full control of the political process and have pushed back elections indefinitely. Get yourself clued up.

I bet the Burmese will laugh after reading your post. Nobody on the planet has ever recognize the Burmese government as a "Democracy." They only ever refer to Burma as a "Quasi-Democracy." Meaning its not a Democracy.

^ This is why Turkey shouldn't be invited. It would benefit only the two islamic nations in ASEAN.

It's what I believe anyway. It's not like its going to happen, but I wish it was so. No. it will still have Indonesia, Singapore & Malaysia. A much more smaller, but leaner & meaner group.

But with Turkey in the mix I am mighty tempted. Having Turkey in ASEAN will exponentially raise our economic status & our prestige in the eyes of the world.

Just stating my opinion. Its called free speech. That's something that Vietnam never have.
FYI my opinion have no bearing to my government views of ASEAN. Just saying it needs to drop its ineffective "Non- Interference policy." Which means a stronger authority of which I believes that Indonesia should fulfill.

There's reason why Turkey wishes to join ASEAN today is indeed poses some technicality problem. But this blocking shouldn't be directed on religious sentiment that has been sprayed by some member here. And no need to bring aid issue. We give aid for humanitarian cause not for anything else.

i know. what i mean is there will be one STRONG Friend from the far west-asia who wants to join the group. people making Religion issue is really a stupid thing nowadays. discriminating other country because of their religion is a trait of a third-worlder.

but whatever. those who wants to be poor can always stay poor.
