Question: Should Turkey participate in a military operation to free Syria off Asad's brutality?

Have your say,why or why not?

.
No,why should we?
The GCC countries are closer(arabs)they would be more accepted by Syrians.
We would be seen as hostile invaders by some.
If there was no other option then yes but there are enough countries to do the job
We could help logisticly or building new infrastructure after the war.

.
Turkey has put hundreds of millions in refugee camps alone. I don't think they will opt for a military option. In this case it just seems that the rebels need advanced air defense weapons. But they aren't providing them. And you guess why. I'm referring to the world btw, not Turkey.

. .
I think turkey will eventually precipitate in a military operation lead by the US (supposedly) just as Pakistan would precipitate in a military operation against iran (supposedly too)

.
Why,and who is not providing?

It's a number of reasons and would be hard to answer directly. But it is politics. They want the process to stay at a slow pace until they forsee their interests in the region. After Assad is gone you will have Syria be dependent on foreign nations for a few decades before they even get back to where they were. This would give the US another state where everything will flip from Russia to the USA. Maybe they can station troops there and military bases. This is the foreign policy of the US. There may be another answer. But what would it be? No one can answer it.

They will divide Syria like they did with Iraq and it will stay hopeless and it will play out just like it did with Iraq.

If the US wanted it they would have done it a long time ago,so obviously they dont want to.
I dont know why not but they should have.
It would be better for the neighbourhood if Syria stayed a unity state like it is.

Maybe you're right, it's all confusing. It's related to costs though. It's probably because they see no gain in to or profit. They would be extragavant for war if it got them the necessary results.

I hope Syria doesn't end up divided and I wonder what approach will be taken by the international world if Assad does indeed get overthrown. There's a lot of questions to ask.

Although, why haven't they(Anybody) given the advanced anti aircraft weapons? When that is really what they need?

@Aeronaut

first of all, if this is for Turks only, why did you open this thread?

and then Turkey will not engage in war with Syria alone, AKP government has been begging NATO for war or at least no fly zone, and they always failed... they even tried to manipulate the Turkish people with the jet story, claiming that the jet was never in Syria's airspace, but at the end America it self admitted it...

so at the end, if Turkey wants war, they could have done it long time ago... however they can't go to war alone :azn: the even asked NATO for protection...

Because the longer the civil war goes on the more radicals join the anti assad forces the more power they command and the more likely they will have a say in the future goverment, do you want Syria 2015 to be like a taliban Afghanistan?

Because you are already spending millions ( and all credit to Turkey for its compassion in this ) supporting refugee camps there are only going to be more as time goes on, do you want those camps still there in 10 years time?

Enough countries to do the job? Which: The US want another "arab" war like they want hemorrhoids on a hot leather car seat.
France is busy.
The EU as a whole needs 35 comisions to change a roll of toilet paper if the conflict is still going in 2300 they might have come to an agreement.
Russia China nope.
Egypt sorry thier busy trying to stop the country imploding.
Saudi Arabia sends in troops expect Iraq to go up in flames and problems to spread across the middle east.

It kind of suxs to be Turkey, you have a leader who might not be liked but people can work with, you have a good military a border with Syria and a reputation for avoiding sectarian problems. Why Turkey because you are a sucess and when your doing well other people expect you to fix thier problems.

Boots on the ground gives you a chance to perhaps sideline the radicals that you dont want next door and last of all because she deserves a future not a refugee camp.

Stop smoking those funny cigarettes or whatever you are high on. Pakistan will never participate in any attack on Iran nor will we ever allow any country to use Pakistani soil for an attack on Iran.

We are not like you guys. We don't stab our friends and neighbours in the back like you guys.
