Turkey will invest 39 billion euros ($46.4 billion) on railways in the next five years, Transport Minister Ahmet Arslan said on May 8

In the last 15 years, Turkey has invested $25 billion on its railways, including high-speed trains, he added

He noted that a 1,213 km high-speed railway line was in operation in Turkey

The construction of 3,798 km of the railway is underway and 11,582 km of railway projects are in the process of auctioning and planning he said

Turkey is the second largest country after China in railway constructions.
Our target is to complete 11,700 km of high-speed railway lines until 2023
and to link 41 cities to each other, said Ahmet Arslan

This is a pretty cool plan, and HSR is definitely more than a mere sum of its parts. It can seriously boost the economy and serve as a force multiplier. Glad to see that Turkey is very serious on this.

The third Airport in ISTANBUL will open on Oct. 29 ...... The project is designed to accommodate growing traffic in a major hub

$10.2 billion was invested in the project and that it would generate around $22.2 billion in 25 years before value added tax

It's part of China's Belt-Road vision. This is the silk road of new hundred years.
Of course, Turkey wants to make a lot of gainings from this global vision. In the financing of a majority of new lines, Chinese capital agencies are involved. In this direction, work continues to produce domestic train sets. (For example in Sakarya, the factory is built with a cost of several billion dollars for it.) There are also a lot of issues related to port-railway integration, such as the Great Anatolian Trans Logistics project. I wish Greece-Turkey logistics integration can not be sacrificed to populist contention.
