According to Ministery of Transportation, Binali Yildirim:

Turkey will develop own airliners until the 100th anniversary of Turkish republic. R&D budget is 1 billion $...

BTW, 100th anniversary of Turkish republic will be the day when The first TF-100 Frigate will be launched on sea...

Roadway;
1st stage: Within 3 years a production of 50-70 seat licensed regional jet
2nd stage: Indigenous development of a passenger plane + engine.

I have no source but the latest news was that we've been holding talks with numerous countries and companies Ukraine/Antonov, Brazil/Embrer about the joint production of a medium hault aircraft.

This may take at least a decade because you are going to stand against Airbus at some point or the other; and industry politics dictate that competition be eliminated, slowed or delayed.

No, at least two decades, we have no civil aviations industry so far (except of maintenance plants).

This project's R&D budget is 1 billion dollars :cheesy:

Unless turkey expand the economy by 20 times in 20 years, it will never start such a project. Its not reasonable to expect a medium size country like Turkey to accomplish something that only big countries can do.

Does not really matter as long as you have customers. We're not talking about long haul airplanes, but small and medium. Its might be expensive to get there but with a solid partner and two solid markets it is possible. Just take a look at how many planes flypgs and Turkish Airlines have ordered, that alone would have been sufficient to employ a hypotetical turkish company for years.

Even the European nations need to get together and formed airbus in order to compare with Boeing. Its not turkey's fault that the odds are way against it. Its just that Turkey by itself would not be able to create a commercial aircraft company to compete with airbus or Boeing. I just don't see it happening.

Embraer has found a space for itself. So why not Turkey? Of course it will be a hard task..

many foreigners also talked like you before Turkish industry started to thrive, ultimately underestimating our potential. Not that we can build everything by ourselves already yet, but saying that we didn't surprise those countries that underestimated us would be wrong too. if our officials, engineers etc. have the confidence and there are sufficient funds, then they should go ahead and make the best of it. there is no such thing as getting something always right on the first try. by failing we will gain experience as well. we shall see what will happen.

Its more likely that Turkey can create a company like Embraer. But almost impossible a company like Boeing or Airbus.

Very noble of your thought. But its just not logical for a country like Turkey to have a company like Boeing or Airbus. For turkey to do such a thing, it would need to revive the Ottoman Empire first. And tell you what, its more likely for Turkey to recreate the Ottoman Empire than for it to create a company like Boeing.

I think thats not also the aiim of Turkey,They omly want to build a company which an fulfill all there domestic demnands and save some foreign reserves and it will also help local people as employment oppurtinities will generate.
They dont have the ambititon of making it big like airbus or Boeing or is there???

A company on the level of Airbus and Boeing is going to take decades to create, simply because these companies have years of experience and the cash to go into R&D work at their leisure. Then there is the whole point of trust, where these two giants have created a standing in the international market which will be pretty hard to shake.

But, rather than competing with the big guys they can start of low with competing at the lower capacity aircrafts, or maybe luxury aircraft.

went quickly through the article. nowhere is given the impression that Turkey is planning to compete with big companies like boeing. neither mentioned OP anything about that. that would be impossible anyway given the amount of R&D budget. anyway, i dont know where you pulled the Ottoman empire from, but it made your point even more senseless and vague.
