Which neighbor you are talking about? is it Israel then your assessment is based on your wish not on ground realities. This regime was not able to take back even an inch of Golan height land in 40 years time and could not able react when Israel attacked their speculated nuclear facility.

Dear friend, which type of wish are you talking about? Let me to explain the concept by an example. Considering the brand-new Egypt, the probability of a military conflict between Israel and Egypt is higher than Mubarak's era. In that case existence of a strong Arab state in the neighborhood, strongly supporting the Egypt, could worsen the situation a lot more.

I think, Israel is not very beloved between Arab nations, so a democratic Arab country could be out of the interest of Israel's politic. Nothing to do with my wishes if any! Only a personal opinion.
