Turkey rejects us move to end sanction waivers and will continue to import oil from Iran

In the coming days, you will see both Turkey and Pakistan taking further steps to support Iran.

The fear of US and Israel is coming true, day by day.

Iran-Turk-Pak bloc is emerging, with full pivot towards China. In sha Allah. This will be the future of our region and have an important influence on Muslim Europe and Central Asia.
Lets just say that it is highly unlikely that anything may be emerging any time soon between Iran and Pakistan other than some joint border guard.

Other than lip service and neighborly courtesy, Pakistan stands firmly in the Saudi corner for now and in the considerable economic future.

Turkish foreign minister on Monday said the US move to end sanctions waivers on Iran oil imports would not contribute to the regional peace and stability, says Anadolu Agency.

“The US decision to end sanctions waivers on Iran oil imports will not serve regional peace and stability, yet will harm Iranian people,” Mevlut Cavusoglu said in a Twitter post.

“Turkey rejects unilateral sanctions and impositions on how to conduct relations with neighbours,” Cavusoglu added.

Earlier, the US announced that it would end sanctions waivers on five countries – including Turkey, China, Japan, South Korea and India – importing oil from Iran.

This means US will sanction Turkey

Brave step ...

After Iran it’s probably Turkey which is the country which loses the most from those sanctions and all the drama.

It would be much better for Turkey if it had an Iran that can operate and trade on the world markets freely. With it’s huge resources and big population it could have been a much bigger trade partner for Turkey than it currently is. The whole of Eastern Turkey would profit from having a stable and prosperous neighbor on its border. Iran could be a gate for Turkey to Central and South Asian markets/countries and Turkey could be Iran’s gateway to Europe and the Mediterranean sea. So much potential for trade and economic growth which is being wasted.

Just imagine if not only them but also the other countries in the region were ruled by smart and pragmatic politicians with a vision for development, education, prosperity.

Imagine if they cared more about trade, coexistence and understanding with the neighbors more than they did about their Swiss bank accounts, stealing the wealth of their people and building/buying more bombs.

It’s not about hate. I’m wondering why China continues to buy Iranian oil, when it can get much cheaper oil from Saudi. Is it to chose it’s stance against US?

China does a lot of business with the Gulf Arabs and they are reliable partners for weapons sales. They would probably offer oil to China at hugely discounted rates if China was to stop buying oil from Iran altogether.

But China also has a rivalry with the USA. Which is one of the reasons why China continues to buy around half of all Iran's oil exports, and probably even more in the future as countries like Japan, South Korea and India cut their oil imports from Iran.

The EU seems happy to continue doing business with Iran as well.

If Turkey stands up to the US sanctions as well that would be a very welcome development.

All three of us are on the US hit list, they alternate while attacking all of us as this new administration showed last 2 years. It proves their fears for our union and everything to keep us disunited.

As far as KSA, they will begin pivoting outside Washington as well, it is only a matter of time.

Unfortunately, Arabs will be blindsided by Israeli expansion, which is inevitable now. They are a dying civilization.

With respect to Turkey and Pakistan's brotherly ties exclusively, I completely agree with you.

I think with the Prophet SAW's blood line leading to the End of times, Arabs may well be one of the very last civilizations to die than any other.

I think China will obey to us sanctions for the time being as they are negotiating a trade deal, China doesnt want to cause anymore problems.

The EU is against sanctions but dont have much power to override it. European companies wont risk their business with the us for iran.

Turkey also wont challenge the US sanctions and might use it to negotiate the s400 deal with the us.

China signals plan to flout US sanctions on Iranian oil

China signaled an intention to defy U.S. sanctions on Iran’s oil industry on Tuesday, denouncing the loss of a waiver renewal as an unacceptable threat against “normal energy cooperation” with Tehran.

“The normal energy cooperation under the international law between Iran and other members of the international community, China included, is legitimate and lawful; thus it must be respected and protected,” Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang told reporters.

President Trump moved to tighten the squeeze on Iran on Monday by announcing the administration would not renew any waivers from sanctions that punish purchasers of Iranian oil. That decision puts China, Iran’s largest oil customer and a current beneficiary of U.S. waivers, in the crosshairs of the administration’s pressure campaign.

“The goal remains simple: to deprive the outlaw regime of the funds it has used to destabilize the Middle East for four decades, and incentivize Iran to behave like a normal country,” Pompeo said Monday. “We have made our demands very clear to the ayatollah and his cronies. End your pursuit of nuclear weapons. Stop testing and proliferating ballistic missiles. Stop sponsoring and committing terrorism. Halt the arbitrary detention of U.S. citizens.”

The waivers expire on May 2, at which point companies that buy Iranian oil could be blacklisted by the Treasury Department. China protested the sanctions as an example of Trump trying to dictate international policy toward Iran, backed by the muscle of the U.S. financial system.

“China firmly opposes the unilateral sanctions and so-called ‘long-arm jurisdictions’ imposed by the U.S.,” Geng said. “We urge the U.S. to earnestly respect China's interests and concerns, and refrain from taking wrong moves that will undermine our interests. We will continue to uphold the lawful and legitimate rights and interests of Chinese businesses.”

Trump decided to scrap the waivers in part due to pressure from Iran hawks, despite internal concern that the U.S. effort to exclude Iran from world oil markets would cause gas prices to spike.

“There is a lot of risk attached to this decision,” Richard Nephew, an energy sanctions expert who served at the State Department during former President Barack Obama’s tenure, told the Washington Examiner. "There's a pretty big chunk of oil that is just going to be gone.”

U.S. officials believe that Gulf Arab states hostile to Iran will pump extra oil to offset the loss of Iranian supplies.

“Both the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates have assured us they will ensure an appropriate supply for the markets,” Pompeo said. “And of course, the United States is now a significant producer as well. I can confirm that each of those suppliers are working directly with Iran’s former customers to make the transition away from Iranian crude less disruptive.”

Those efforts won’t be sufficient, China argued. “What the U.S. did will inevitably add more instabilities in the Middle East and the global energy market,” Geng said. “We urge the U.S. to act in a responsible manner and play a constructive role instead of doing the opposite.”

Ahlul Bayt was exiled and persecuted during Banu Umayya times. Most of the Sayed today are from Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Iran.

We have the graves of most of the prominent descendants of Prophet Muhammad saws like Bibi Pak Daman in Lahore.

If we go by Hadith, Israel’s war of expansion will be the death of the Arabs, bar Hijaz. Several authentic hadith on the matter including one which says only a few Arabs will be left when Imam Mahdi comes.

India already announced it will stop importing from Iran
India needs Iran and we will surely have some path to import Oil from Iran, I have heard that India is consulting China for the above, China may have an alternative strategy for this....
I promise If India budges to USA, BJP will lose my vote....

Is there a way for India out of this? Chinese Help?

US had already thrown everything they have at China in the trade war they started and now they have no more ammunition left, I don't think India wants to go through the same process.

But can they afford to sanction 4 or more countries together? i mean have they done this before?

survive of what??
US can not Sanction whole of the Asia.
At the moment many Asian countries like Iran and Russia or North Korea are under US sanctions in different levels.
with Sanctioning China and India, US competently cut its business relations with major Asian countries.
