Nope, these countries you're talking about didn't had the resources you had, you can't compare yourself to them, your level is in the line of top countries.

Most of these countries had downs and ups in the near history, civil wars, economical crisis, bad managament, many of them didn't had the natural resources you had, you had a bad time more then 20 years ago and you fixed it with natural resources and after 20+ years you're still not even close to top players and you will probably not catch them in near future, not really proves anything

Bad times in Russia ended only in 2000, when Putin became president.
One example - Americans during the Cold War had a "Plan 300" - 300 main objectives for nuclear attack - the main plants in the country. When Putin came to power, it turned out that half of the plants of those which remained in Russia was "privatized" and cut to scrap-metal. They had to rebuilt it. Plants on the territory of the former Soviet republics also destroyed very quickly. They had to look for a replacement - again rebuilt. In 90's half of the scientists went abroad.
What happened in Russia in 1985-2000 years, it was worse than any civil war, worse than revolution in 1917. Russia lost more than after invasion of European hordes in 1941-1944.
Putin corrected much, but it need 10-20 years or more before Russian economy (Eurasian Union actually) will once again become the world 2-3. If there is no major war.
