Erdogan tries to play all sides but ultimately he gets burned by everyone and ends up pissing off all sides. A few of his more memorable failures in recent times:
-He staged coup to eliminate rivals, played military against Gulenists, purged military hates him and US is taunting him with Feto.
-He supported Muslim Brotherhood during Egypt 2011, now MB is dead and Sisi expelled Turkish ambassador and cut relations.
-He created Turkish/Kurdish conflict to gain popularity before elections, now his support is worse with Turks and terrible with Kurds.
-He created mess in Syria, playing jihadi rebels against ISIS, then rebels lost and whatever was left merged with ISIS.
-He played US against Russia/Iran in Syria, now Assad won and US kicked Turkey out of F35 program
-He blackmailed Europe with Syrian refugees, playing EU against refugees, now refugees are stuck in Turkey and Europe won't let them in.
-He made a big fuss about Turkey joining EU, playing EU against Russia, then EU blackballed him and now Putin is laughing after Lira imploded.
-He is doing bidding of west, playing NATO against Putin, now Russia is winning with IR drones and NATO is blaming his failure as mediator.
There are many more examples, I can go on if you like.
