Turkey honours Allama Iqbal for services to Islam

.
and Government of Pakistan "honoured" Allama Muhammad Iqbal by declaring his birthday as working day in Pakistan.
What else did you expect from "Ashrafia...Mafia ",THE RULING CULTURAL BASTARDS.

.
The award does not honour Allama Iqbal rather the opposite is true i.e. the award gets honoured and elevated because of its association with one the greatest philosopher and thinkers of the modern times. I never heard of this award before but Iqbal is known throughout the world so basically Walid Iqbal favoured and blessed the award.

Dear, there are general styles and there are personal styles. The general style world-wide is to declare holiday as a token of respect and gratitude towards founding fathers of the nation; a way to show the world that we respect them. If you like some different way of celebrate the founder of Pakistan or commemorate achievements of this nation, then please do as you please ( and i have no issues with it). But DO NOT try to justify your personal opinion by pointing your finger towards the 60% illiterate people of Pakistan.

I didn't cracked any joke, it was sarcasm.!!

You avoided to Answer the question and wrote a whole essay.

Just answer the simple question.

WHAT GREAT THINGS you do (on holidays) of Iqbal day and Quaid Day to honor them and to show respect and gratitude to them. ??

Well I arrange a gathering of friends, read a few poems from Iqbal's kuliyaat and see their implications for the contemporary issues. Rekindle our passion for the two nation theory and reaffirm our resolution to lead our lives according the philosophy of the "self"...and if I'm in Pakistan and Lahore then we visit his shrine with family and friends.

Pakistanis and their love for holidays, as if they are already very productive

Not every one is "YOU" my Dear.
Yeah but if you are favouring the workday on Iqbal day by siting so strange reasons then it should applicable to all the days including August 14 since as you generalised your opinion which I don't think is even true.

Similar reasons were given when this laa'natulllah alaih assumed the office of PM for the first time and to please his masters (jews and hindus) he shifted the weekly holiday (weekend) from Friday to Sunday citing the business reasons while one must see where does Pakistan stand in international trade and business as compared to UAE (Dubai), I mean no comparison, but still UAE observes the weekend of Friday and Saturday and still fares far far better than Pakistan and we have seen Pakistan go down in economy and law and order ever since.

Bhai kisi din fursat se beth kar zara chutiyaa gin lo kay Saal ke 365 dino me se Classes actually hoty kitne din hay. and trust me the Answer will be less then 250. Aagy aapki marzi.

Using the same logic, we should also eliminate the holidays of 23 March, 14 August, 1st May, 25th December. Right??

oh wait ... we cannot eliminate the holiday of 25 December because uncle SAM will be angry!!!

Who says that we give holiday on 25th December because its Founder's Day??? This holiday is now given in Pakistan because of Christmas. If you doubt this, try eliminating the that holiday and then see Uncle SAM coming after you.

We are losing millions daily in corruption and you are lamenting on a single day holiday!!! o_O
Also we have a 6 day workday compared to the 5 day for Europe. A few holidays on culturally relevant days can't hurt.

Soo gay, ya movies dako gay. ya ziada se ziada bike pe ghomo gay.
i remember that on Iqbal day the schools celebrated and held ceremonies ..We children used to sing Iqbal's Kalam in choirs though soon I left Pakistan and I don't know what happened to those traditions but that's how it was celebrated in my childhood and still I continue to this day but with a different style. There will always be a minority that sleeps through the holidays and that is even true for Eids..I know many relatives and friends who sleep on Eid days and don't even go to offer the prayer but does that mean we deny the holiday to all the people.

Bro, education is not just attending the school and cramming words and formulas in the memory and then reproducing with full accuracy on the day of exam without an alteration of a punctuation mark.

The true education is when you sit with your elders and listen to their life experiences respectfully and share the ethos and passion for the creation of Pakistan..the best source of uncensored and least distorted accounts of history that transports us in the past and see with our own eyes the movement of Pakistan... people chanting slogans "Pakistan ka Matlab Kiya La illaha il Allah", mobs of Hindus attacking Muslim areas and torching homes, murdering Muslim men, women and children etc...
It is important not to forget the history and important figures and who can be more important than the founding fathers of the nation i.e. Iqbal and Quaid e Azam.

Well brother. that's why i am ''recommending'' no-holiday on IQBAL and QUAID day.

and i respect your opinion. Every one have his own POV. similarly i have my own POV. you can disagree with that but you can not say i am wrong. kia pata me jis angle se in cheezo ko dekhta hun aap kise dosre angle se dektay ho.

so i agree. You are right. and you should agree that i am also right.

Its absurd to equate respect, or honour, with a holiday.

KONYA, 17 December 2016: Pakistan’s national poet-philosopher Allama Muhammad Iqbal has been honoured in Turkey, through the conferment of the “Dost Award” for “Service to Islam.” Iqbal’s grandson, Walid Iqbal, received the award on behalf of the Iqbal family.

The impressive ceremony for the prestigious Dost Awards, usually conferred on one Turkish national and one international personality, was held in Konya. Turkish scholar Prof. Dr. Süleyman Uludağ received the award.

Turkish Minister for Culture and Tourism Nabi Avci handed over the Award to Walid Iqbal. Pakistan’s Ambassador to Turkey Sohail Mahmood was present on the occasion.

The Awards ceremony, which was preceded by an international symposium titled "Mevlana’s Love for the Prophet", and a mystic music concert, was organized by the Konya Provincial Culture and Tourism Directorate, International Mevlana Foundation, Turkish Women Cultural Association (TURKKAD), and the Kerim Education, Culture and Health Foundation.

Addressing the guests, Minister Nabi Avci stated that the awards ceremony was organized at a time of celebrating the birth anniversary of the Holy Prophet Muhammad, coinciding with the commemoration of Shab-e-Uroos of Mevlana Jalaluddin Rumi. “Through this Award, we honour late Muhammad Iqbal for his contributions to the cause of Muslim political thought which still inspires people in the entire World,” said Minister Avci.

Walid Iqbal, in his speech, noted that holding of the Awards ceremony in Konya had special importance keeping in view the spiritual connection between Iqbal and Rumi. He said Muhammad Iqbal in his poetry, especially in “Javid Nama”, had referred to Rumi as Peer-e-Rumi or his mentor. He also highlighted Iqbal’s love for the Prophet (PBUH) as well as Iqbal’s tremendous efforts for unity of the Muslim Ummah.

Prof. Dr. Mahmud Erol Kılıç, in his speech titled "Prophet Muhammad in Mevlana", also paid glowing tributes to Muhammad Iqbal. He quoted several verses from Iqbal’s poetry, composed in solidarity with the Turkish martyrs of Tripoli and Canakkale wars during the Ottoman times.

Separately, felicitating Walid Iqbal and the Iqbal family, Ambassador Sohail Mahmood highlighted the depth of love, affection and respect among the Turkish people and leadership for Muhammad Iqbal (as Allama Iqbal is known in Turkey) because of his immense services for Islam and contributions to Turkish causes including during the Balkan wars and Turkey’s War of Independence. Indeed, he added, Iqbal and his teachings continued to form part of the most enduring bonds between the fraternal Turkish and Pakistani nations.

Konya Governor Yakup Canbolat, Konya Metropolitan Mayor Tahir Akyürek, Head of Istanbul Branch of Turkish Women Cultural Association Ms. Cemalnur Sargut and many distinguished scholars on Islam, Mevlana Rumi, and Iqbal from Turkey and abroad also attended the ceremony.
