Turkey declines to inspect Iranian cargo

The Ankara government has reportedly rejected a request by the UN to conduct inspections of Iranian cargos at customs checkpoints between Iran and Turkey.


The UN called on the Turkish government to allow its inspection teams to inspect Iranian cargos at customs checkpoints.

Today's Zaman website quoted informed sources as saying that Ankara considers the UN request as contradicting Turkey's friendly ties with its neighboring countries.

It also cited the sources as saying that the Turkish government has rejected the UN request in order to prevent damaging its ties with Iran.

The Turkish government also voted against the imposition of UN Security Council sanctions against Iran.

During Turkish President Abdullah Gul's visit to Iran in February and after meeting with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the two sides agreed to increase the value of their annual trade to USD 30 billion.

“We are determined to immediately reach the value of our annual trade transactions with Turkey to USD 30 billion through the expansion of all-out cooperation,” said the Iranian president in a joint press conference with his Turkish counterpart in Tehran on February 14.

He added that the volume of trade between the two countries had surpassed USD 10 billion last year while noting that the two countries could upgrade their trade value to USD 30 billion.

that Iranian cargo plane inspection news from last week was also made up. No Turkish news source said anything about it and Iran completely denied it. The Israelis themselves (Israeli newspaper) said that there was nothing on board but food stuffs and there was nothing from the chosen ppl's government either.

i know there has been alot of surveys/polls in muslim countries about differnet issues. have anybody done a survery that how many people in israel do think they are superior to the others and chosen by the God? anybody knows about this?

I thought Pakistan was equally concerned about Iran's nuclear ambition and a nuclear bomb in the hands of the ayatollahs? I mean setting aside your feelings for the UN - there is a factual based concerns when even as few months ago - a secret Iranian nuclear site was discovered.

This guy was a soldier for Iraq and he fought against Iran. You country gassed my country men and invaded my country for no reason what so ever. You never gave a single cent of war damage. Now you're crying about destablization? Reap what you sow arab, reap what you sow.

Face it, we own Iraq now, and there is nothing you can do about it. The Americans are all over Iraq now and look at how much influence we have. Once they leave we will have even more influence. And what you call destablization, I call support for our allies. Shia rule in Iraq is in Iran's interest and we will support every shia in the country. They are also the majority.

One last thing, Iran can send all the training and cash it wants, but it can only work if there are Iraqis willing to do the fighting for Iran. If you don't like what's happening in you country, then go turn your frustration on your own people cuz they are at fault. Iran is just looking after her interests like every other country.

It's okay when people believe they are "chosen". Christians and Muslims both do. Both Christians and Muslims have told me at one time or another that I or someone else was going to hell.

One time I had an Egyptian Muslim making a point, rather passionately to another, right in front of me: "... I don't why (my name) is going to hell, we don't know why he is going to hell ... but he is ... these things are not meant for us to know".

And to tell you the truth, nothing but the truth ... I wasn't really offended at all. But I nevertheless found it "jarring". One thing that insulated me was the fact that many Christian churches teach the same thing ... so I wasn't a stranger to this line of conversation at all.

These days, I am not sure it is wise to talk about hell like a vacation spot in Florida - or north Tokyo. I concede that the followers of the "religions of the book" have a tendency to do just that.

How about we leave the religous nutters out from all sides? Most Jews do not follow our religion word by word, Most muslims do. Most Jews do not think Judaism is the one true Religion, Most Muslims do. Most Jews do not believe non-jews will go to hell, Most muslims do(They are called infidels).
And as a proud Israeli Jew that Prays everyday i tell you this: In my eyes, in my religion and belief, even dipsh!ts like you will go to the same heaven as Jews,Christians Hindus whatever, as long as you lived a good life and have not committed evil that is interpreted as evil by most of Humanity(Murder,Rape etc).
And those that say otherwise, you won`t have to worry about them, they`ll most probably be going the other way.
You can continue to try and besmirch Jews, Israel as long as you like. Personally i always liked the Chinese for some reason, so i can`t really hold much ill-will towards you guys.
