Turkey courts Chinese tourists with skender and ice cream at Shanghai EXPO 2010

I wonder what's the difference between Turkish and Arab food. There are plenty of great Shawarma and Falafel type place in Toronto but I've never had Turkish food to the best of my knowledge (unless you count Turkish delight :D :D :D)

First of all the Shawarma and Falafel places in the GTA, or even in Ottawa are mostly Lebanese-run (some were Iranian shops) ... at least the ones I have been to.

I was told that Lebanese food doesn't encompass the entire "spectrum of Middle-eastern food" ... whatever that means.

To my unsophisticated taste-buds, Lebanese and Greek foods are basically similar.

My wife and I went to the recent GreekFest in Ottawa. Their roasted-on-a-spit lamb was to die for ...

It sounds like you are a fan of Turkish delight as well. There is a middle-eastern grocery store close to my office and hey have a wide selection of Turkish delight ... but all too d@mn sweet - even the ones from supposedly famous "Daoud Bros" ...

Hamilton Farmer's Market has the Turkish delight with just the right mixture of pistachio and sugar, IMO.

If someone knows where I can get "home-made" Turkish delight with less sugar in Ottawa, please tell ... :P

I don't know about other Chinese cities but Doner kebab are everywhere in Beijing. You almost can not walk into a big supermarket/shopping center without seeing a Doner stand near the entrance.
