Turkey Condemns Terrorist Attack In Pakistan That Killed Turkish Citizen

ANKARA - Turkey condemned Sunday the bomb attack in Pakistan that killed a Turkish citizen.
A bomb went off in Pakistani capital of Islamabad on Saturday evening in which a Turkish woman named Sacide Ender Baskaya lost her life. She was a member of a Turkish NGO named "Hayata Destek" (Support to Life) that has been extending humanitarian aid in Pakistan since the massive earthquake in 2005.
"Turkey extends full support to efforts of Pakistan- which continues its democratization initiatives with determination after the general elections that took place in the country some time ago- to fight against terrorism and extremism," the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.
In its statement, the ministry also said, "Turkey feels deep sorrow and concern over terrorist attacks that target the peace and stability of Pakistani people."
The Ministry said Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf called Turkey`s Embassy in Islamabad and expressed sorrow over death of Turkish citizen, asking the embassy to convey his condolence messages to President Abdullah Gul and Turkish nation.
"Turkey will maintain its support and solidarity with Pakistan regarding fight against terrorism and extremism," the ministry said.
