The news on the economy may be disputed, but if needless Islamization is the cause then it is disruptive to Turkey. The very attractive Islamic quality of Turkey was the seperation of state and religion. As far as I still remember, Turks were more muslim than most others and much more attached to Islam but never wore it on their sleeve like a medal.

The very concept of letting religion be a personal matter is what kept Islam strong and unadulterated in Turkey; it would be sad if it is being ruined now.
