Turkey Apologises To Russia Over Downed Jet

Been done for decades.

Sometimes it leads to death when they do that.
Yeah only difference is that it was back in the days that Russia was considered a superpower. They are nowhere near that today but Obama is letting them run around thinking that they are. Thanks to this, while it doesn't bother you as the US is the sole superpower today, it's us that have to put up with Russia's newly discovered confidence boner.

.
Putin is a fool, if he lift the sankctions against the Turkey

But, considering he is sleazy bastard, scared of any kind of confrontation, I am afraid, he could do it. Sanctions should never be removed, until Erdogan is in power. Even Erdogan , has more credibility than Putin, the scammer, unable to push anything to the end and playing sleazy games. Disqusting

As Putin pointed out, the U.S. is the sole superpower. We get something out of it. But at the same time, you can see what Indonesia has done facing against China when intruding its waters. And as you have seen, Putin didn't bomb Turkey when you shot down their fighter which is the biggest insult to Russian psyche. You can call it confidence boner for Turkey.:-)

Good move by Erdogan. Apologized for the pilot death instead apologizing for the shooting down of the plane.
Now the ball is in russia's park. I guess they will either slowly withdraw some of the sanctions.

Which sanctions are you referring to exactly?
Yeah they stopped buying vegetables from Turkey :yahoo:

That's the only real sanction they have right now against us.

oh let's not forget Russian tourists :disagree:

Mr. Putin doesn't have such a luxury right now since he is sanctioned by west, he needs Turkey more than ever.

Russia has big projects in Turkey and if they don't build it, there are plenty more countries who can do that, it's their loss not ours.

Let's not forget it was Putin first who said they want to normalize their ties with Turkey.

I think it was a proper and well thought move by Turkey. While US is helping Kurds build their own country south of Turkey in Syria and Europe in shambles, restoring ties with Russia seems to be the correct move.

Let's not forget that Turkish construction companies in Russia are very important as they are working on a lot of projects- including ones about World Cup 2018, on infrastructure projects, building skyscrapers and etc... There was a ban on Turkish companies to work in Russia and Russian companies to hire Turkish nationals- with times the ban was lifted step by step but not completely.

There was a ban of Turkish fruits and vegetables but it was lifted about some products and soon more will follow as prices of food stuff in Russia are sky rocketing. With the lower price of oil and gas and with the fact that Russian finances are not at a really good shape it's getting harder for regular Russians as they spend bigger part of their money on food. Turkish stuff still reach the Russian market tho but as an import from Belarus or Azerbaijan- that way it get's more expensive because Belorussians and Azeris want to make some profit too. I remember how when the embargo on Russia was declared by the EU there was even some see food from Belarus as a country of origin on Russian markets so one way or another food get's there. This year vegetables and fruits in Bulgaria are really cheap as Balkans are flooded with Turkish products. Turkish producers are very active and they are doing good so far in diversifying their markets.

There was a ban on tourists visiting Turkey but with times some travel agencies in Russia were given the right to work again with Turkey as a destination. It was done too late tho because most tourists probably already chose their destination and season for our tourism will be catastrophic. That is a great loss as tourism and all small businesses connected with it are a great way to pump some money into the economy- that feed a lot of people. But that should be a lesson for all those who menage our tourism to diversify our markets as I still believe we have a great potential to work with tourists from the Muslim world, China, India, Japan, Korea who are also bigger spenders and a huge market. They also mostly have a warmer view about us and don't really care about politics.

We still import a lot of our natural gas and oil from Russia but some steps were taken to diversify and lower our dependence on imported energy. We should invest a lot more into renewable energy, off shore and on shore exploration for oil and gas both in Turkey and abroad, we should try do connect ourselves to potential suppliers that can give us an advantage.

Considering all tens of thousands of Turks and Russians that have connections between each other- for work, business and even as family connections (as Turks are/were the largest contingent of foreign grooms for years in Russia :D ) I think it's always better to have normal business connections with Russia and I am sure that both countries know it.

I just can't die laughing ......!!!

As predicted ... and our Turkish friends ridiculed us for it!!! Told you, Turkey will apologise or regret it ......!!!

After the latest snub from Nato, erodgen got to his place. Not more Islamic thing that happens there

Good move by Erdogan. Turks are blind in their hate against him,and failed to see that both Russia and Israel were supporting recent surge in terrorist activities in Turkey, and Erdo was being blamed.
Good that he got the monkey off his back.

Are you talking about Israel or Russia?

Israel (Mavi Marmara).

Russia apparently violated Turkish airspace, Turkey almost daily violates Greek airspace, The US violates airspace of countries from Pakistan to China and Yemen.. So whats the big deal ? If every one of those countries goes on brain farts like Erdogan did and shoots down aircraft, I doubt there will be very few air forces in many places

Erdogan had to eat his words, Go on a bended knee to Putin.. He tried to push his way too far and got burned, That's the thing about megalomaniac's they tend to believe their own BS after some time, That is until it's a bit too late

But pity that many here still consider him as the messiah.. Blind nationalism.. Erdogan in his 14 years have dragged back Turkey 20, Interms of it's standing in the world

Yeah you are right. On the other side, U.S. never shot down a Chinese or Pakistan plan. Not to mention that every week round shelds strike from Syria on turkish territory and kill or wounded people or other damages.

Erdoğan recently said both sides should work together to better their relations, adding that he was concerned at how ties had been sacrificed over what he described as a “pilot error.”

It's not a pilot error, our pilots don't make such mistakes, it's clearly a governance mistake at the country level.
That pilot hit the target according to your own orders you idiots for the homeland! Damn I can't take it anymore... Tell me what happens if Russia violates our airspace again after this "sorry"? What we gonna do? Shake hands to pilots?
What do you expect him to say? That I made stupid error.

False comparison. None of those other airspace violations (or imaginary violations in the case of the Greek ones) involved bombing allies of the country whose airspace was being violated - the Russian jet was bombing anti-Assad Turkmen rebels when it got shot down.

On the contrary a very fair comparison.. As far as Russians are concerned all rebel forces in Syria are enemies of thier allies, You cant have good terrorists and bad terrorists, I guess thats where Erdogan got it wrong as well.. Sad for the Turkish people but look whats that got them into ? Latest the horrific attack of the Airport

Btw the violation of Greek airspace by Turkey is far from imaginary, And quite hypocritical as well

Yeah you can't have good terrorists and bad terrorists, yet the west still supports YPG. Hilarious.

Also it's impossible for Turkey not to violate claimed Greek airspace. According to the Greeks, they own the Agean, it's our duty to remind them daily that they do not.
