Turkey and Israel Normalize Ties

First of all, I don't hate Jews at all. Antisemitism is a crime against humanity. I rather remember our very well integrated and proud Jewish community in Turkey. I miss them. Seeing jewish Turks migrating to Israel made me anything but happy.

Having said that, refreshing our diplomatic relationship with Israel is nothing to be ashamed of. But we have to be careful. We shouldn't risk our relationship with the huge Arabian world.

Arabian consumer markets are simply too important for our export industry (including our emerging defence industry).

This won't upset the Arab world, this is Turkish-Israeli matter that was between them to resolve. Resuming diplomatic relation isn't contingent upon ending diplomatic ties with another party, in this case a Palestinian party. Turkish role with Hamas/Palestinian area of influence was recommended by the US as well, so it's something that will remain, providing mediation between two parties that is helpful. So ties with Palestinians will be unaffected, and diplomatic relations with Israel will go back to pre-flotilla levels as it was. Nothing wrong with that. Some people make it seem bigger than it really is.

The only thing that might happen, is one of the camps in the Arab world will use this to attack AKP party and brandish them as frauds/hypocrites and what not.

Turkish PM announces deal with Israel to normalize ties

Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım announced on June 27 that Turkey and Israel have reached a deal to normalize ties after six years of strain.

Yıldırım said the deal will be signed on June 28 and will be taken for confirmation to the cabinet in Israel and the parliament in Turkey, which will then be followed by the mutual assigning of ambassadors as soon as possible.

The prime minister also stated that Israel will pay $20 million in compensation to the relatives of the Mavi Marmara victims.

The first ship carrying humanitarian aid from Turkey to Gaza, part of the deal between Turkey and Israel, will set out for Ashdod Port next Friday, Yıldırım added.

A 200-bed Turkey-Palestine "friendship hospital" will also be put into service as soon as possible under the deal, Yıldırım said.

He also added that the Housing Development Administration of Turkey (TOKİ) has a housing project under development in Gaza.

And it's done...

@Solomon2

y am i not surprised ..turks cannot live without the warmth of their zionists brothers 4 too long

I suppose given the state of the region it's best to make as many friends as possible.

I don't like paying compensation to Al-Qaeda linked 'activists' who made martyr videos and were intent on attacking soldiers.

I don't like Erdogan either, but alliances are more important than personalities or ego.

Actually the raid on IHH offices were most probably a Gülen organization action, they found no proof of any link to AQ.

So we just imagined the martyrdom videos and stabbings?

Some IHH members were arrested for Al-Qaeda links.

this isnt the way to go if you want to make friendship, if you point that we will point the inhumanities perpetrated against the palestinians and then you will take the kurdish issue up and bam! enmity again

No, im honest. Because i followed the happenings of mavi marmara as well, and what amazed me was that from day one the Gulen media critisized and undermined it.
Ahh, well its obvious to anyone who can calculate 1+1, the raid happened to a very suspicious time, just when AKP and Gülen broke up with eachother.

It was two members and they were released after finding no proof, to understand the situation you should know that at that time the Gülen organisation infiltrated the state organization including police with AKP's help at the beginning, but somehow they broke with eachother somewhere around 2013 and the raids began, including to IHH, at the moment they are in a state of cold war with eachother, the goverment suspended thousands of Gülen organization members from state organisations and closed their schools etc.etc. in short its a very long topic.
Not everything is as it appears from outside, espacially in politics you should know it by now.

Why is the announcement from the PM, not Erdo or the FM?
Netanyahu is also the PM of Israel and it was him who made the statement on Israels behalf so why is it wrong when the same is happening on Turkish side?

Man some people always find something to nag about.
