Alot of such research had been done in Soviet Union and US to find a drug that could make human body to take alot more radiation than normally it can. Such a drug would be extremely useful to save civilians during nuclear attacks or accidents as well as make soldiers more survivable on nuclear battle fields. Only two drugs currently are known to be able to do the job and both are American and have received heavy funding from US military:
