Ok lets provide Kashmiri Mujahideen with Armour piercing bullets at least. Also to Naga warriors with ATGM and SAM.

Btw TTP is trying desperately to justify their white lies. SAM fired from 7 Kilometers away cannot hit the chopper in that terrain as the chopper constantly flies between mountains and never in the line of sight from 7 Km away.
Other thing is a heat seeking missile goes after heat signature I.E the engine and exhaust.
The tail rotor has no heat signature . Busted again.

actually a shoulder lauch sam has a range of 1-2 km at best, with maximum of 3-4 km under ideal conditions
the sam shown is sa-7 outdated and outlived

This technical glitch, what eventually happens ? I am expecting one of the rotor stops rotating ? I am curious is because if that's the case, we can ascertain from eye-witnesses ofc is the one which stopped and then hypothesize the manner of descent ?

Exact fault is yet to be ascertained. Please explore this forum, initial reports have been discussed.

Heli accident in Pakistan was an accident for sure and I firmly believe that it was an accident until and unless it was hit so low by someone 3 kms away from it. It is not at all possible but and a big but is Taliban (Pakistan) if not today will have access to it tomorrow. They can have it anytime, it is about time. If not from inside source (Pakistan has many terrorist symphatesiser within forces) then if I go according to Pakistan media their handlers will provide it to them one day. Just like the way Pakistan dragged USSR into it, the same way regional players will not allow Pakistan to go so easily.

You are wrong. It is more than that, moreover it was not SA-7 it was SA-18.

Correction, Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. I doubt that time Iran was developing its own indigenous MANPADS.

I have read articles of 90's and 2000 in which reports have indicated about supplying of Manpads during the civil war in Afghanistan.

By the way , Why Negative rating ? Arent there possibilities of hybird attack ?

The heli crashed due to tech malfunction or pilot error or whatever, NOT due to being shot. PERIOD.

As for this video, it is genuinely a matter of graave concern...completely changes the dynamics of the situation IMO as far as PAA is concerned.

Small arms fire has damaged PAA aircraft before as well AA fire, rendering helis useless for the time, but this weapon can down a complete helo with a greater kill probability and greater range than any other thing seen before in those areas.

Loaded helos with 20 odd troops can become genuine targets easily now.

Point to ponder is that whether this system really works or if it is just a propaganda piece.

Having a working manpad is one thing.
Having someone trained to use it is another.

The manpad was heat seeking most probably. it should have gone for the engines, not the rotor.
The fact that the talib is showing a rotor as target to start with is fishy !

lastly. the man pads have a life span, as do fuses, propeller charges etc

I never denied that NA was being equipped, did I? Read David Kilcullen and know about this multifarious fancy term called hybrid warfare, terrorism is one of the key features. Let me repeat one more time there's no possibility of any terrorist act behind the crash of M-17 helicopter.

The Sterla M2 the TTP claims to have in posession of was a soviet era weapons and upgraded version have max range of 5.5 Km. So the TTP is again caught with their pants down when they claim they actually fired the missile from 7 Km away and hit a moving target.

Even then the 5.5 Km version is the latest. The black market version is less than 3 and we all know that any sam cannot hit a moving target at maximum range.
At maximum range a SAm can only hit a stationary target.
