I have always thought of China-Pak relationship as similar to Pak-US relationship before it went sore. These two nations dont have anything in common, and are held together purely by political interests that co-incide (Anti-USA and Anti-India, China is more of the former while Pakistan is more of the latter).
I don't agree with this video completely, but it will certainly be interesting in the future if Pakistan and China clash or don't agree with a certain issue, the most likely of which I think at this point might just be Uighur Muslims.
In the world of diplomacy there is a very oft repeated fact that two countries can never be friends, they just have convergent interests. So two countries need not be 'Similar' to be on good terms, going by that logic Pakistan and India should have been bosom buddies seeing as we are more similar than many other nations we enjoy excellent relations with. The Koreas should be united and there should be no rebellion in Chechnya if being 'Similar' is the prime character on which foreign policy is to be based.
the thing is pak is a country that cant stand on it s own feet. they need others to prop them up. and they have sold their souls for it.
I absolutely agree, what I was trying to say is more along the lines of this China-Pakistan friendship being a temporary one, one which will break easily at the first signs of non-co-operation, much like US and Pakistan.

I disagree, the problem with US-Pak alliance was that the people from both sides were not comfortable with it, the government were hand in hand but for the people, the closest idea they had of their 'Ally' was what the media painted it to be.
In Pakistan's case, we were supposed to be a reckless, rogue state that harbours terrorists and produces nuclear weapons for a nuclear Armageddon.
The US was portrayed as a crusading and careless world power drugged by it's own strength and a global oppressor of muslims.
Resultantly, the first signs of strain and all hell broke loose.
In case of China however, there is plenty of people to people contact and mutual respect exists between both communities, nullifying the danger of such a powerful backlash in case there should be some problem.
Well, US and Pak have been close allies since the 1960s, and things only went bad after 9/11 and the war on terror. As I said earlier, conflicting interests...
I dont think it is a relationship of mutual benefit and respect between China and Pakistan. What has Pakistan done for China for the relationship to be two-sided? China has provided soft loans, done construction, built a port, etc. Its all a one way street, the only thing Pakistan can provide in exchange is its geopolitic location to keep India busy. Just like all you offered to USA in exchange for aid was your location.
That being said, we will see how things go if you guys have a clash of interests. This friendship is golden if there isnt a clash.
