Trump: US companies can sell to Huawei

From CNN's Ben Westcott

US President Donald Trump said that US companies can again sell products to Chinese technology giant Huawei after an effective ban in May.

Trump clarified his comments earlier in the press conference, saying after his meeting with Chinese leader Xi Jinping he would allow Huawei to once again buy US products.

"US companies can sell their equipment to Huawei... there's no great, national emergency problem," Trump told reporters.

The US Commerce Department formally added Huawei to the list of companies the US government considers to be undermining America's interests in May.

Experts said that Huawei would be crippled by the effective ban, which would stop them buying advanced US chips over security concerns.

I love the last sentence which said " Experts said that Huawei would be crippled by the effective ban, which would stop them buying advanced US chips over security concerns."
I didn't know that Trump or his staff care so much saving their face.

It is a bit too late, Huawei is not going to hold back their plan B. They will likely offer the phone buyers a choice of either Android OS or Oak OS in international market, and out full force on Oak OS in domestic market. And they will have Plan C ready in case Trump change his mind, as he is proud of being unpredictable.

Stupid move by china, they traded away the US farmers for status quo. US not going to make a deal.

World understand that there is no creditability of google Andriod open source and lost the faith on American products who were self-claiming open-source or IEEE standards. This announcement just another stop
Huawei's self-developed OS to be ready by the end of 2019 to save American companies face value to their so-call open-source market.

.
The threat to Huawei isn't solely from the markets. It's the components and the chips that will become unavailable to Huawei once US-based suppliers cut ties with the company. This will force Huawei to settle for less competitive or more expensive alternatives that could later jeopardize its products' reputation globally. Why else do you think Huawei has a stockpile for such subcomponents for 6 months?

This guy must be humiliated with his previous comment on the ban.

Some facts
Huawei revenue by region
51.6% China
28.4% EMEA countries
11.4% Asia Pacific
6.6% Americas

it's revenue is estimated to be $100 billion when taking the $30 billion loss into account. Not surprising the CEO said the $30 billion loss is peanuts. By now every idiots who claimed Huawei is finished or gonna suffer badly are suddenly all silent. Now this is what i call humiliating themselves. Huawei is big, very very big.

Trump didn't do this out of charity, don't be fooled. He did this because him and his cohorts realized they miscalculated and that American chipmakers and Google will suffer significant and irreparable harm if China went down the path of self reliance. Trump is impulsive with little foresight so it is quite clear he underestimated the self inflicted harm when he banned Huawei.

USA companies can sell to Huawei and make money while Huawei is not allowed to sell them telecom infrastructures.

Huawei should continue to build its own phone OS, App Store and Hardwares so it can be ready for the next American trade attack.
I think they will do it. International markets will use android but internal market can use our OS. By right, we should have toppled Samsung this year....no thank to trump we have to earn 30 bil$ less.
