They don't have a problem with the payment only with the delivery.



Well we just have to wait and see how this develops. It does seems that Trump is trying to patch things with Erdogan . Though it is still hard to see him delivering the F-35 if army people and congress is against it.

I think it is too late to save Turkish F-35s. US congress passed at least five pieces of legislation that barrs their transfer to Turkey. Even trump cant do anything about it.

On the issue of sanctions, while Trump does have the authority to exempt Turkey from sanctions, I dont think he will be able to do it. Because the congress is strongly against it and they will overturn trump’s decision. But Trump does have the authority to choose the types of sanctions to be applied out of 12 types that range from light and easy ones such as revoking visas of some Turkish leaders to harsh ones such as exclusion of Turkish firms from the US banking system. I think realistically speaking the best thing Trump can do is apply sanctions but only some of those light ones.
