If the Indians can build up a reasonably good movie industry so can we. We already have excellent military themed movies like Wolf Warrior. We just need to crack down on the sissy girly idol culture and improve (greatly) the depth of writing. Also ban those old directors talking bad about China like Zhang Yimou. The HK industry is not bad either -- although its best were Jet Li and Stephen Chow movies decades ago.

Hollywood has been and still is unmatched. Yes quality has fallen and we need better writers but there’s plenty still out there that keeps the world’s population enthralled.

Back to topic, what @CHN Bamboo is saying is that in the past few decades, Chinese people's embrace of Hollywood is because the Chinese government was promoting it from behind the scenes. The reason why the Chinese government was promoting it from behind the scenes is to better integrate with the "American led global economic order". Now that China and the US economies have decoupled there is no longer any reason to promote Hollywood. As a consequence, Chinese people will just stop paying attention to Hollywood over marketed crap like Marvel. The Chinese government has a lot of levers it can pull at will to alter people's tastes and perceptions.

The Chinese government has not protected the local mobile game market, but foreign manufacturers have largely been driven out of the Chinese mobile game market.
Honkai Impact 3rd, Onmyoji, PUBG mobile, etc., do well in the our game market because of their own excellent plot & quality instead of the protective measures of the Chinese government.

Given your age, you may not know how attractive Chinese-made cultural products are for our young people.
