Trump to give TikTok's Chinese owner 45 days to reach deal to sell

Would you stop that.
Nobody is talking about Microsoft buying ByteDance.
Nobody is talking about ByteDance selling all of Tik Tok to Microsoft.

They want the server data of US users to stay in the US.
ByteDance would sell their US operations to Microsoft to manage.
No matter what people think or say.
US shows an example to the world. Leaders of other country is not dumb, one day they shall ask US website or app server data of theirown country stay in their country too.
Maybe not now, because US is still the only hegemonism country of the world. but there will be one day.
Hegemonism will never last long,we will see what will happen when US break the rule and system created by itself,
especially who benefits most under this rule and system.
US technology companies will suffer in the coming future.
Trump is a typical businessman. only see the short term interest. He never cares about further future.
The empire depraved in his hands.

.
don't bother about indians , we don't spy on american tech knowledge nor we do reverse engineering . indians are working honestly in america for benefit of both countries .
No one cares, because Indian will never be a challenger, lol
Do you care wether Sesel spy on tech?
US only cares the challenger.
Like СССР,Japan,Korean,France, and of course, now, China.

China already did this
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/China_Internet_Security_Law
"...The law sparked complaints both internally and internationally due to its wording. Foreign companies and businesses in China expressed concerns that this law might impede future investments in China, because the law now requires them to "store their data on Chinese-law regulated local servers, and cooperate with Chinese national security agencies if asked to,which could potentially compromise business secrets and sensitive information.

It's a good start that US follows the rule created by China.
And if you like, China can transfer the technology of GFF to US without a cent, lol.
As I said above, this is not a good news to US's tech companies.

Then you guys shouldn't be ranting for 3 pages over unfairness.
But tiktok did follow the rule and the law made by US, including store their server in US.
The only reason why Trump ban tiktok is the boss is a Chinese.
Do you think is fair all the countries ban US's websites or apps just because their boss is American?
And not a single US company banned in China, by the way.

They said they have copies in Asia.

TikTok says it stores US user data on servers located within the US and backed up in Singapore

it would continue negotiations to acquire TikTok from ByteDance, and that it aimed to reach a deal by Sept. 15.

Under the proposed deal, Microsoft said it would take over TikTok’s operations in the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. It said it would ensure that all private data of TikTok’s American users is transferred to and remains in the United States

So which one is it? Selling the entire app is one thing and giving up operations in some countries while keeping the app in the rest of the world Chinese is another, if it is just 5 eyes "operations" and the TikTok app outside these countries would remain owned by China then I think that is a pretty good deal and I see no problem with it because if you are getting out of the 5 eyes you might as well get some money for getting out while keeping TikTok Chinese in the rest of the world. I do wonder though is it even possible to sell just the "US operations" while keeping TikTok outside US Chinese? How does that even work? TikTok is not a physical thing it's an app.

However if they are talking about selling the entire app.. then frankly if I was F-22Raptor then I would immediately buy a big beautiful cake, tell the bakery to write "welcome to the family TikTok :usflag: " take a picture of it and tag in every Chinese member that I know of. without any exageration if Xi Jinping agrees to selling the entire TikTok app instead of just the "operations" in the 5 eyes then it would be almost like watching Xi consenting to being cu**ed in broad daylight, it would be so embarrassing to watch it would be like.. getting a glimpse of how the 100 years of humiliation looked like.

The only reason why I'm sharing this article is for this:-

(Zhang’s personal Weibo account was flooded with comments attacking him as a "traitor" who acquiesced to the US for the sake of money.

“You knelt down to them but the enemy still looks down on you, and in the end you will lose your app, money, customers and face,” one commented).

Hopefully more public pressure mounts on this dumb@ss to force him to become more patriotic , if he sells the entire TikTok then he may lose public support in China & once that happens more and more people in China may uninstall Douyin thus he would effectively lose his biggest source of revenue that is China.

(Reuters) - President Donald Trump has agreed to give China’s ByteDance 45 days to negotiate a sale of popular short-video app TikTok to Microsoft Corp, two people familiar with the matter said on Sunday.

U.S. officials have said TikTok under its Chinese parent poses a national risk because of the personal data it handles. Trump said on Friday he was planning to ban TikTok in the United States after dismissing the idea of a sale to Microsoft.

But following a discussion between Trump and Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, the Redwood, Washington-based company said in a statement that it would continue negotiations to acquire TikTok from ByteDance, and that it aimed to reach a deal by Sept. 15.

It was not immediately clear what changed Trump’s mind. Several prominent Republican lawmakers put out statements in the last two days urging him to back a sale of TikTok to Microsoft.

The negotiations between ByteDance and Microsoft will be overseen by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States, a U.S. government panel that has the right to block any agreement, according to the sources, who requested anonymity ahead of a White House announcement.

“Microsoft fully appreciates the importance of addressing the President’s concerns. It is committed to acquiring TikTok subject to a complete security review and providing proper economic benefits to the United States, including the United States Treasury,” Microsoft said in a statement.

ByteDance and the White House did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Under the proposed deal, Microsoft said it would take over TikTok’s operations in the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. It said it would ensure that all private data of TikTok’s American users is transferred to and remains in the United States.

Microsoft may invite other American investors to acquire minority stakes in TikTok, the company added. About 70% of ByteDance investors come from the United States.

China also do the same to US brands

Exactly! So there's no way Beijing will agree to ByteDance selling its business outside of the five eyes during pressure. It would be a humiliation for China.
