Trump slaps Turkey with more sanctions to punish Turkey for disobedience

:o:
are you crazy? turkey doesn't have enough cushion to protect her currency and you want them to go economy war with the US????????
even GOD can't help them.
An athiest fool would be surprised what God The Almighty can do. you will see for yourself! you should wait and see what happens because i am interested in what happens next just because you brought God the Almighty into this.

All True
But The US deficit amounted how much?
USA relies on petrodollars to manage its debt. Other countries keep USA treasuries as reserves which makes USA debt safe. It is a political adjustment with GCC countries and petroleum suppliers in general and enforced by military (Iraq invasion for example)

ow many years has a deficit of billions existed in turkey's trade ?

WHY HAS IT NOW BECOME SUCH A BIG DEAD ECONOMY PROBLEM
Because now they can't pay it !!!!
WHY THEY CANT PAY it ??
Because Lira crumpled and ???
Ok Why lira crumpled ??

the current government rules turkey for more than 16 years you believe that each year they borrowed and imported aggressively but just now 16 years after the consequences began tho in 16 years everything in the country only grew

Turkey had slashed a few zeroes last decade in about 2003-5 and made new turkish lira. So, this turkish Lira crash is not first time.

Turkish debt is ballooning and investment fleeing from Turkey as tensions between west and Turkey is growing. Before, west used to sponsor Turkey by giving investments and soft loans into Turkey to keep its economy floating. But that has been withdrawn due to tensions. Turkey was dependent on west for money and west now took advantage. It is a common concept of usury practiced by moneylenders from ancient times to get maximum benefits by hitting when the others are down.

Lira crumpled because of foreign investment fleeing turkey. When Turkey was dependent on the west, Turkey should have behaved like a slave till it freed itself from the dependency and then acted bravely. Turkey should have known not bite the hand that feeds it

If the government was so excessive and stupid 1) why Turks kept voting for it
2) why industry , manufacturing , production , agriculture ,, healthtourism, defense , investments in Somalia and tourism are all upward

How did the government afford Turks healthcare ?? Or is that nothing
Turks vote Erdogan because of Islam.

I don't understand why investment in Somalia came into the discussion. But about the other things, these happened because west and its allies gave generous loans and investment into turkey. It is a very common way of creating slaves used by west. This is nothing new. Turkey does not make its own medicines but imports them. The manufacturing is mostly chemicals and simple technology goods. Tourism is just optics.

Sure , lets wait whether God can paid their debt or not :D

Yea I'm not gonna continue this discussion
If tourism is just optics
And whatever manufacturing oh it's simple
And Erdogan won because of Islam this BS
Look up what turkey manufactures and how many countries manufacture it before you judge

This simple and optics stuff are worth billions just so you know
And still none answered the question

Where is the dying economy , where is the bankruptcy??

Turkey is now facing a serious speculative attack lacking any economic basis, Adnan Bali, the CEO of private lender Isbank, said on Monday.

When we look at Turkey's inflation, budget-deficit-to-GDP ratio, or debt-to-GDP ratio, the currency issue cannot be explained through economic fundamentals

Turkey's short-term -- 1 year or less -- liabilities total $180.6 billion, including $102 billion of them in lenders' obligations, with half of those non-residents' deposits, and the debts' refinancing ratio is 110 percent, he stressed.

"Meanwhile, under the reserve option mechanism, banks have nearly $30 billion in the Central Bank, which provides $50 billion foreign exchange deposit limits for lenders," he said.

Bali added: "Turkey's banking system has realizable foreign currency liquidity of around $50 billion. It refers to an unproblematic view."

On private sector debt -- $73 billion -- he said their refinancing ratio is over 130 percent.

There is no foreign exchange deficit in the Turkish banking system, according to Bali

Turkey has external debt of 50% of GDP. This is a big deal. Just debt is not important as internal debt is manageable. External debt is the real problem.

I do not understand how Turkey can service 180 billion dollar debt in next 1 year. Trade deficit in first 6month of 2018 itself was $40 billion. From where will Turkey get extra money to service the debt it holds? Turkey's forex reserves are at 100 billion dollars including gold. The trade deficit is only getting wider to rely on any surplus to get forex.

Even if Turkey sells its foreign exchange reserves to settle debts, the total needs will still be difficult to handle. Turkey may survive for 1 year with as the short term debt of $180 billion involves about $60 billion of domestic foreign currency deposits which can be renewed. The remaining 120 billion dollars can be offset by reserves and some investment by Qatar or other country. But the foreign exchange reserves will fall to critical levels by doing that and next year, there will be a default. The problem with debt accumulation of Turkey has been quite serious.

Blaming it on speculation is wrong as Turkey has borrowed in unprecedented manner in just last 2 years of 2017 and 2018 which warrants a crash of LIRA

According to the Treasury, the private sector’s share in the country’s gross external debt stock was 69.7 percent.

Nearly 75 percent of the total gross external debt of the country consisted of long-term debts -- with a maturity of more than one year.

I agree that private debt is high. But most of this private debt is related to trade deficit. Also, I think Turkey is OK for next 1 year. However, the problem will be seen sharply in next year. If turkey's imports go to 0, Turkey will suffer from serious problems. It will be impossible to sustain like that. If turkey's private players default, that is what is going to happen as no one will trust Turkey again to provide it with any more goods without first getting the payments back

And we still let US use our airspace to support PKK&Afghanistan missions, also let US to use our İncirlik airbase to support PKK in Syria.

Disgusting scums with no honor are ruling our country.

This would not change your economic problems. The currency collapses.

USA pays Turkey to do that. Also, Turkey is not willing to withdraw from NATO. You can't blame USA for this.

In the past too, Turkey made huge money by selling oil from ISIS and shot down Russian plane when Russia bombed the tankers and logistics. Erdogan was issuing big statements taking the responsibility of downing the plane and even attacked Russia verbally

No?

I am not blaming USA? I obviously blamed (and insulted) my own government in that comment you quoted? o_O

Turkey made huge money by selling oil from ISIS
Turkey didn't sell any oil ISIS? o_O

and shot down Russian plane when Russia bombed the tankers and logistics.
Ehh this is utter bullshit. We shot down Russian jet in Hatay city's airspace, and closest ISIS territory was 300 km away from Hatay, not only that there was SAA controlled territory between Hatay and ISIS. How could ISIS "oil trucks" (lol) could pass SAA territory and reach Hatay? o_O

Erdogan was issuing big statements taking the responsibility of downing the plane and even attacked Russia verbally
And? How is this related with anyway with what i said?

Hilarious, you made up your own scenario by combining irrevelant things hahahaha

Erdogan is just waiting for the 10 lira to 1 dollar, so he can slash one zero, and get 1 lira for 1 dollar..and it is not a joke, Turkey did it before slashing many zeros off the Turkish lira..
Economy expert we got here. :D

Actually its not a joke...Search Turkey 2001 crisis..If i am not wrong in 2001-2 it took around 1 Million lira to buy 1 Dollar....
Another expert.

Aaaand another one. :disagree:

Hint, look up the difference between exchange rate and inflation.

Why exactly will China or Russia work with Turkey? What does Turkey have to offer? Iran gives oil. What does Turkey give?
