What's new

Trump shocked as world leaders LAUGH at him during UN speech

The funniest part is he actually knows he's full of crap, but he just doesn't care...
Trump knows he is a con man from childhood. But I dare guess that this is the first time in his life that he encounters events and people that he cannot control, influence, or sue to get his way, and his ego is baffled about it.

.
But looking at US presidents in my lifetime so far, Donald Trump's and Ronald Reagan's natures are essentially representative of the US in terms of national character.

So you think Donald Trump is representative of the USA in terms of national character?

Does that mean the whole world is laughing at the USA?

. .
The Trumpster may be a joke, but he is a joke because he is essentially unsophisticated, refused to be refined, and resistant to be controlled, not because he is stupid. Personally, I do not like Trump even as a person, let alone as a man, even before he ran for president, and when he was in the running, my disgust for him grew even more. But looking at US presidents in my lifetime so far, Donald Trump's and Ronald Reagan's natures are essentially representative of the US in terms of national character. And THAT is what 'the world' often missed.
Oh boy, this is what happens when you start believing in your own hype. You make it seem as if the world never existed before the US, everything that had a beginning WILL END, and so will American supremacy, its not like the Us really reigned ling when you truly look at it. Before 1945, the US was just a great power, and it was only after 1989 that it become the sole superpower. Realistically US as dominated great power politics for only about 50 years, thats not long nor is it impressive. So stop believing in your own hype, america will fall!

Yes. America first. We do not care what others thinks of US. We dare to speak the unspeakable. We are not keen on appearing to be sophisticated. We try to be polite but will be uncouth if necessary to get the point across. We go our own way and do our own things. How else do you think the US got so much shit done for its young age?

Does that mean the whole world is laughing at the USA?
Laugh away. You think we care?

Trump might be a moron but he has more guts than many seasoned politicians. His behavior is open book - not a backstabbing coward.

Rather have a leader with guts at the helm than a sophisticated lying hypocrite.

A bunch of gutless chickens laughing, is not very telling anyway. Doesn't change the fact that US continue to be the most powerful country in the world, and will continue to influence global trends for indefinite period. In fact, wait for MAD to become obsolete.

Perhaps the first time in recent history, America came to know what civilized world think of it. Its the world laughing at America.
Actually, it is very possible that in the history of the UN, a member was actually laughed at. A member, let alone a sitting member of the Security Council. I will admit that I have not done homework research on this, so I maybe wrong, but right now, it looks like the US may very well be the first UN member to be openly mocked at. Thanks to the Trumpster.

Nevertheless, it is ultimately irrelevant. The most Donald Trump will have is 8 yrs of being president. And everyone at the UN know it is ultimately irrelevant.

It is ultimately irrelevant in the sense and question that if the Trumpster behave 'presidential' would other countries put US interests first? No, each country put its interests first, US interests be damned. Trump maybe clumsy in speech, and often his mouth runs ahead of his head, but have no doubt he is wily like a fox in mind. His ego have been -- not maybe -- bruised. But he is smart enough to know that once he stepped out of the UN building, he answers to the American people and their approval is more important to him than any approval from foreigners. In that, Trump is reflective of American attitude regarding the rest of the world.

Trump will never be another Reagan.

Well said.

I don't like Trump at all. I think his behavior is just outright puerile. Nevertheless, one can dislike the man but agree with some of his policies. He's the first president who's vigorously pursuing US interests, especially in areas of trade and defense. This is deep contrast with Obama, who was more keen on being liked than actually pursuing US interests. And he was definitely liked -- even won a Nobel Prize -- but he wasn't respected. In fact, he was considered a pushover.
