A top US official said on Friday President Donald Trump looked forward to working with Pakistan to pursue peace and security in the region days after US envoy to the United Nations Nikki Haley said Washington was concerned about the relationship between Islamabad and New Delhi.

In a telephonic conversation with Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, US National Security Adviser Lieutenant General Herbert Raymond McMaster said security was an important prerequisite to unlock the immense economic potential of the region and the US administration would like to work closely with Pakistan in this regard.

"President Trump looks forward to working with Pakistan to pursue the common objectives of peace and security and economic well being of the people," said the US official. "Sacrifices made by Pakistan's armed forces as well as civilians to improve the security conditions are admirable."

Lauding the ruling government's initiative for economic reforms, McMaster said Pakistan had made impressive progress on the economic side. He said he looked forward to meeting the finance minister in Washington later this month.

On his part, Dar congratulated Gen McMaster on assuming the important responsibility as the National Security Advisor and said that he looked forward to working with him (NSA) to further develop and enhance the bilateral relationship between the two countries.

"The improved security conditions as well as the economic turnaround achieved in last three years provide an excellent opportunity to develop and promote an economic partnership between the two countries," he added.

"Pakistan believes in a peaceful neighbourhood and the government of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is keen to work with friends and partners for peace and stability in the region and beyond."

When the US commits to working with Pakistan but doesn't sell F-16's

. . .
Meanwhile same U.S. NSA is on visit to India and U.S. appoints pro India Lisa Curtis as a senior Director on National Security Council.

. . .
I think working with the NSA can create a huge counterintelligence problem for Pakistan, the americans just appointed a pro India woman as a senior Director of National Security Council.

Is it that bad for Pakistan that USA appointed her?

. .
now here we need a pro pakistani politicians that can't be a betrayer with pakistan, also we need 10 steps ahead policies, strategies to deal with americans in order to fulfill pakistan's interest in the region, we also need an eagle eye on our politicians, journalist and their dealings with U.S.

any crucial dealing should be confirmed to U.S by Govt after negotiating with major institution of pakistan.

ishaq dollar spoke on the phone, well put the breaks on! as for US working with Pakistan. bawa maaf karo.

It's better for Pakistan that it deal with McMaster then Flynn as US NSA. McMaster is both cool-headed and sober compared to Flynn, who was more ideological and bit of a hot head.

You are hung up on wrong item and strategy here. The US, without doubt can "make it rain" in terms of expansion of the Pakistani economy through allowing her businesses to invest in Pakistan and allowing Pakistan to trade freely for a while. Just 5 years of such an economic cooperation will set Pakistan up for the future and for the better.

So when you could get investments from the US worth $ 10 / 20 billion a year, and trade opportunities to export to the US worth a few billions a year, do the F-16's still matter? NO, you can use the money you'll make in profits and literally, can start manufacturing a better plane yourself or buy it from the Europeans or others.

For a better future, and for the better good, you gotta look beyond the past and beyond the hurdles. Just because I don't want to discuss a topic with you (referring to the F-16's), doesn't mean I can't benefit you beyond your imagination (referring to the US's ability to help expand Pakistan's economy in literally, no time). You guys need to learn how the real diplomacy is done and how you and others can cooperate for billions, and still keep your interests intact!
Today's world runs on economies, not on F-16's. Your economy is strong, you can buy many F-16's and F-18's on cash!

.
they didn't refused to give F-16 they just said

"IF YOU WANT F-16's PAY FULL (increased) AMOUNT FOR IT NO FMF"
Just in case Pakistanis want to integrate some of their own future weapons, would Pakistan's best ally be ready to give software codes and electronic details for F-16, in any higher/elevated price ?

By the way the claim that Muslims were dancing on streets of New Jersey as used politically by Trump , qouted to him (John Farmer Jr) is "False". Which is why he stated that in article
"All made up stories"

In his own words !!

Technically someone can get sued for lying against a Religious community as Trump did in his political campaign
