The definition of 'great' varies from person to person and each definition is inevitably tinged with the person's own biases.

I have no problems calling Fidel Castro a great leader because he possessed many things that notable leaders have: courage, brashness, high oratory skills, personal charm, extroverted, and a visionary.

But then -- was Hitler good for Germany ?

Just because you have a 'vision' that does not mean whatever it is that you saw and/or wanted for the country is actually good for the country in the long term. Many great leaders turned out to be selfish and egotistical people as well, and am sure that if you research hard enough, you will find at least one such in your country's history. Fidel Castro was many times unfaithful to his wife.

Bottom line is this: Compare Panama City and Havana in 2016.

Did I say it would happen tomorrow? The world has been in transition since the first Fission Reactor. Solar and wind power alternatives are there just to make the complete eventual transition easier.

Without Fidel, Cuba would've been the whore capital of the Caribbean islands. Without Fidel, Cuba would've been just like any other Banana republic exploited at will by the US multinational companies. I can't say that Cubans live a happy life under Fidel and his socialist government. But it is far better than being exploited by the companies.

Trump is 100% spot on. Castro definitely was a brutal dictator. Don't need be politically correct....and the Cuban Americans in vast numbers will get behind Trump's statement too....and they know about Castro firsthand compared to any of you nincompoops sitting in front of a keyboard.

Now you can make your stupid excuses that Castro did this and that for his country and people.....just like you can say the same for Stalin, Hitler, Mao and the rest of them....doesn't change the fact what they all essentially are.

Now having said that, Castro was a charismatic guy....I will miss his antics and funny words....and he is a loss to the world of caricatures 100%. For that RIP.
