Trump accuses Obama of being the ‘founder of ISIS’
42 MINS AGO BY AGENCIES

Donald Trump accused President Barack Obama on Wednesday of founding the Islamic State group that is wreaking havoc from the Middle East to European cities. A moment later, on another topic, he referred to the president by his full legal name: Barack Hussein Obama.

“In many respects, you know, they honour President Obama,” Trump said during a raucous campaign rally outside Fort Lauderdale, Florida. “He is the founder of ISIS.”

He repeated the allegation three more times for emphasis.

The Republican presidential nominee in the past has accused his opponent, Democrat Hillary Clinton, of founding the militant group. As he shifted the blame to Obama on Wednesday, he said “crooked Hillary Clinton” was actually the group’s co-founder.

Trump has long blamed Obama and his former secretary of state — Clinton — for pursuing Mideast policies that created a power vacuum in Iraq that was exploited by IS, another acronym for the group. He’s sharply criticised Obama for announcing he would pull US troops out of Iraq, a decision that many Obama critics say created the kind of instability in which extremist groups like IS thrive.

The White House declined to comment on Trump’s accusation.

The Islamic State group began as Iraq’s local affiliate of al-Qaida, the group that attacked the US on Sept. 11, 2001. The group carried out massive attacks against Iraq’s Shiite Muslim majority, fueling tensions with al-Qaida’s central leadership. The local group’s then-leader, Jordanian-born Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, was killed in 2006 in a US airstrike but is still seen as the Islamic State group’s founder.

Trump’s accusation — and his use of the president’s middle name, Hussein — echoed previous instances where he’s questioned Obama’s loyalties.

In June, when a shooter who claimed allegiance to IS killed 49 people in an Orlando, Florida, nightclub, Trump seemed to suggest Obama was sympathetic to the group when he said Obama “doesn’t get it, or he gets it better than anybody understands.” In the past, Trump has also falsely suggested Obama is a Muslim or was born in Kenya, where Obama’s father was from.

The president, a Christian, was born in Hawaii.

Trump lobbed the allegation midway through his rally at a sports arena, where riled-up supporters shouted obscenities about Clinton and joined in unison to shout “lock her up.” He railed against the fact that the Orlando shooter’s father, Seddique Mateen, was spotted in the crowd behind Clinton during a Monday rally in Florida, adding, “Of course he likes Hillary Clinton.”

Sitting behind Trump at his rally on Wednesday was former Rep. Mark Foley, R-Fla., who resigned in 2006 after allegations he sent sexually suggestive messages to former House pages.

Dont be so hasty folks, i can see the resemblance. Combined with the birth certificate issue we can say with certainty that TRUMPO is correct. Not.

They accuse Pakistan of all sorts, but here we have an American presidential candidate accusing his own current president of being the founder of ISIS.

Scary prospect but I think TRUMP has an uphill battle to fight, people in the south will vote for him (because they are mostly just angry rednecks) but he has alienated too many people in key states to win.

You are right. The latest polls show his support falling drastically, but it remains to be seen.

.
well he is correct in a sense.

in his eagerness to get out, Obama either failed or possibly didn't want to negotiate a SOFA (status of forces agreement) that would have allowed the US to maintain a residual force.

ISIS popped up on Obama's watch.

Obama supported the Syrian rebels, armed and trained many who went to join qaeda affiliates or ISIS.

Trump rallies are awesome, what an amazing speaker. :D

Who doesn't agrees with President Trump here ? USA has always produced an @$$hole president, why not one more maniac President ? Instead of going for that two faced b!tch, Trump is much better choice.

After making statements like this, I don't know how he realistically expects to win. I thought he would change his tone a bit and choose his words more wisely to attract more support, but I was wrong. He is as ludicrous as ever.

If Sanders was the Democratic nominee, it wouldn't even be a contest. Oh well.

Why is it that when Trump says that ISIS is a US mess people start acknowledging this fact, but when the world was saying it long ago it was brushed aside as a myth? By the same token, would you also agree that the US isn't so great anymore as Trump proclaims?

are they ?

but when the world was saying it long ago it was brushed aside as a myth?
no idea, I know I've been a long time critic of US foreign policy in the middle east.

By the same token, would you also agree that the US isn't so great anymore as Trump proclaims?
I can't say, but there are some economic indicators like more people on welfare and a shrinking middle class in the US.

I guess some people in the US are feeling the pain, and Trump's tapped into that.

Most definitely. Many critics have been pointing out US role in the Middle East for quite some time. It always fell on deaf ears. Suddenly, Trump takes a swipe at Bush and everyone starts agreeing. To me, that is kind of strange.

Well, according to Trump the US is being beaten left and right. What I do like about Trump is that he wants to change the US interventionist policy.

Increasingly it seems Trump is a Clinton plant.Trump was(and probably still is) a pro-choice democrat who supports taxing the rich, He supported(or still supports) a single-payer health care system. He has public stated that he hates guns and not in favor of it. He wanted to impeach Bush. He has been a long time financial backer of the Clinton political family. He has publicly stated that he wanted to legalize illegal immigrants who were already here. The Birther movement was started by the hilary camp and it was continued by Trump....would it be so difficult to fathom that he(and Hilary) wanted Obama's ratings to go down for the Democrats to nominate Hilary after Obama's first term? What he did in this race was basically made sure no proper conservative had a voice in the Republican nomination process....and if you haven't noticed it diverted people's attention from every single Hilary scandal by making outlandish remarks...Hilary would always get the democrat vote and a proper conservative candidate would get the republican vote...now Trump basically filtered the nutjobs to his side and sent the reasonable republicans to hilary's side....it is very much possible that the Clintons have pulled the greatest con-job of the 21st century and turned the most powerful democracy in the world on its head. Even if by some miracle Trump wins he will be calling Hilary day and night for instructions.

Trump is a closet Democrat sent out to annihilate the GOP.

Yeah, call me a conspiracy nut.

Trump is as crazy as they come, but he is challenging the established order. Too bad he got white supremacists and Islam haters on his side. It may sound crazy, but at times Trump does speak the truth. He's very outspoken on Iraq and ISIS for instance. He has got a strong point when he says that Bush was initially responsible for creating the mess in Iraq. He is also right about Obama's wrongful policies in the Middle East and how Syria and Iraq are today a stronghold of ISIS. It is not a very popular thing to say such things because Americans are generally very patriotic and quick to ignore these truths.
