“With utmost humility, we would like to bring it to your kind notice that in spite of the constitutions of Bangladesh granting freedom of religion to non-Muslims in recent past, there has been a spate of attempts at persecution of minorities in your country, especially the Hindu community for no reason but for their being Hindus persons,” the memorandum read.
“Bangladesh has a proud history and heritage of communal co-existence of different religious communities, with Bengali language is being the most powerful cohesive force, overriding every other religious, cultural and other ethnic difference. But in recent times there have been widespread reports of purported violence, physical and also otherwise against the Hindu minorities of Bangladesh, which have become a matter of great concern for the citizen of India,” the memo further said.
According to VHP, property and business establishments of the Hindus are many a time forcibly have been overtaken or made surrender under force, such instances undoubtedly violated the right to property of the minority community which is against the spirit of the country. “Hindu girls and women’s are also allegedly sexually harassed by goons and hooligans taking advantages of their vulnerability for being minorities,” the memorandum added.
