Both are a threat, but Communism and Maoism have a greater resonance in the poor than the ttp will ever have. That is the main threat.

Naxal support will vanish, if Govt takes some measures to reduce poverty (which they are doing), but TTP are like mad dogs. One cannot reason with them. You have a greater internal threat. Maoists can never reach the ferocity of TTP.

The BBC's Subir Bhaumik in Calcutta says that while there is little prospect of them making any headway in urban areas - or indeed non-jungle rural areas - the rebels remain a force to be reckoned with in remote areas where the security forces are thin on the ground.

You can talk as much as you want about Maoism. But talk facts and not opinions pulled out of somewhere.

And if the Maoists come to power the first thing is that they will need some *** to kick and no guesses who that will be. Yes that will be Pakistan and no they will not be having a honeymoon relationship with Pakistan like MMS.

So be careful what you wish for. Dont be a Bhasmasura in wishing for something you cannot deal with.

The Naxal leadership comes from Central India mainly AP.So they don't have the 'emotional bonding' that people like MMS have with Pakistan. So if incidents like 26/11 happens under Naxals ,they will surely decimate Pakistan.

I know the Maoists - they want to take india back to year zero, they want to eliminate the middle classes, as the bourgeoisie - they would kill of all the officer class, which would weaken the indian army considerably.

They are only surviving because unlike GoP our Govt thinks that Army should not be used to crush internal struggles. If the Army is called the maoists are over within a month.
