Three military officials including a major ranked officer lost their lives while eight militants were killed in an operation in Bakakhel, Bannu district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Pakistan military’s media wing ISPR said in a statement. The officer was identified as Major Atif Khalil along with two soldiers Azadullah and Ghazanfar Abbas.Independent sources added that the operation was aimed against the affiliates of Hafiz Gul Bahdar Group belonging to the Sadiqullah Gurbaz Karwan. Heavy firing was reported earlier in the day from the area with military choppers seen surrounding the operational zone. The militants had been appearing on the main road in the last few weeks.
