Travel Advice: Berlin, Germany

Berlin Mitte has some very cheap backpacker accommodation. I remember paying 19 Euros a night at The Circus Hotel/Hostel, but we were in a big group.

It's decent enough if you want to stay for 3-4 days, and its centrally located.

If you are going in a group you can book a hostel in
hostelsworld.com
You can get private rooms in hostels too.

I will ask my German neighbor whenever i see her next time...Yesterday i saw her sunbathing and didn't want to disturb her (or she had known i am watching her :D )

Thanks everybody for your help

After reading the above posts and some internet research it seems like Mitte or City West is ideal location to book hotel? I hope I am judging correctly...

Now any travel advice/must see attractions will be highly appreciated and will hopefully book the hotels tonight

Zakii - don't you think a sticky travel thread is long due in PDF?

I was demanding for the whole travel forum couple of years ago

But I think whenever a member travels to any country he creates a thread dedicated for his purpose and it helps him more than a sticky thread. Because after some time nobody is interested in reading the sticky thread if it is not about girls or non-serious matters.

I do agree that most members are not interested if it not about girls. :) But there are certain members like me (I have indicated travel as a interest in my profile especially low cost travel) :) - It takes so much of research to plan a trip if it is not a package trip. In the past few days I saw atleast 3 threads on travel - one about a member travelling from UK to Pakistan in motorcycle and what he posted was excellent valuable information. Here is the information about Berlin. Roybot posted pictures about Bosnia and Guatemala and I was tempted to ask him about the details of his trip. If there a sticky thread, it is valuable information in a single thread instead of the threads getting lost over period of time.

You have a valid point and I am also fond of travelling but I do not know how many members will be interested in such discussion. On top of that there is a possibility that different members want to visit different places and if being discussed in the same thread it will make the whole discussion very boring. If you wanted to know more about the travel experiences may be you could talk about it in the sticky "Whatever" thread... still I have no objections to it and if you find the appropriate title you can create a travel thread and lets see how it goes...

If certain members paid attention to it - it might be made sticky

All i know is that Germany was bombed to the ground by American and British aircraft during WW2, hundreds of thousands of civilians of every walk of life were burned to their death by powerful and never before used material, mercilessly and indiscriminately by the "democratic" American and British "liberators".

Dresden was an open city that housed thousands of captured allied prisoners, not only that but it was also a cultural center of Germany and had no affiliation to military garrisons or factories producing war material, yet the "Liberating" and "democratic" allies rained hell on the city for a whole night engulfing Dresden in what later came to be known as a "Fire "storm" which literally sucked everything around it into its flames, turning the entire city into nothing but gray ash.

Berlin and other German cities also faced similar a fate.

Also, another fact about how the "democratic" allies liberated the oppressed people of Germany from the tyranny of Adolf Hitler was when 1.9 million German POW's, mostly teenage boys and elderly men who were drafted into the Wehrmacht as a result of Germany facing shortage of military age men, were starved to death in their own ***** intentionally by their "democratic" allied captors and this was months after the war had been over.

Enjoy your trip to Germany Zakii.

Sadly there is always one in a thread.

On topic though seeing so many are talking about travel and would prbably check up on their PDF addiction?mod work while away a little word of warning.

you’ve ever taken a laptop on a work trip, here’s some troubling news: The FBI and national cybercrime agencies are warning people traveling abroad to be wary of shady scammers planting malware via insecure hotel Internet connections.

In an advisory issued yesterday (May 8), the Internet Crime Complaint Center(IC3) notes that malware perpetrators are masking their cybercrime weapons as popup software updates travelers see when setting up their Internet connections. (The IC3 is a partnership between the FBI and the National White Collar Crime Center, and funded by the Bureau of Justice Assistance.)

“The popup window appeared to be offering a routine update to a legitimate software product for which updates are frequently available,” the IC3 explained. “If the user clicked to accept and install the update, malicious software was installed on the laptop.”
