Transfer to PAF

We have people serving in the Army who were not born Pakistani Nationals but had Paksitnai origins. Gen. Alvi (Shaheed) of SSG fame was one of them.

Salam Dear Brothers

Firstly, please accept my appologies if a similiar thread has already been posted.

I was referred to this forum by a friend and was told I can find answers to my questions here.

I am currently serving with the UK's Royal Air Force and have recently completed the Elementary Flying Training. Last year I was streamed to fast jet and my fighter pilot training has already begun. I have acquired a number of hours on the Tucano T1 and the BAE Hawk.

Following the recent decisions made by the Uk's new coalition government, drastic changes are being made that involve the scrapping of the UK's entire fast Jet Harrier fleet and the Nimrod. The RAF has now offered voluntary pilot discharge due to the surplus amount of pilots on temporary holding.

Although I am a Flying Officer and my commision will end after 12 years, I have decided to take this opportunity to transfer to the PAF.

So my questions:

1) Am I eligible to apply to the PAF?

2) What are the nationality requirements, as I only hold a British Passport.

3) What is the application procedure?

4) What is the selection procedure?

5) If accepted by the PAF, what rank will I be allocated?

I look forward to hearing your comments and advice.

Thank You

I am a old timer with some experience in aviation.
So my 2cents might matter might not.
And I am not here to discourage you. Again the policy makers are sitting in AHQ Islamabad they would know better.

My first question how old are you. And then we will start again. I hope you don't mind I don't want to give you wrong information.

I hope @vip_hossam checks back on this forum sometime. In our twitter age with people getting overwhelming replies instantly, people not familiar with the way forums work sometimes get surprised when they don't see replies and discussions going on instantly after they type in their message, like an IM or something.

Because if he's serious, some of our senior members like Muradk above could be very helpful.

The thing is that Gen. Alvi was an exceptional case where he was granted a commission due to the special wavier by Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. In order to join the Pakistan Armed Forces, one must have been born in the country or have substantial ties to the place like first cousins or grand parents living in Pakistan. Then even if you are a British citizen, you can join, but it will depend on the Service's if they allow you to join or not.

A person pointed out about MI5, well they don't do this as they are mainly there for domestic purposes, much like the IB in Pakistan. It is MI6 however that is the sticky point. I am sure that they continuously try to infiltrate the Pakistan Armed Forces and rest assured they won't need a British Citizen to do this, but it is an option nevertheless. I am also sure that ISI also tries to infiltrate other Armed Forces as do all agencies in the world. Having said that Major General Mahmood Ali Durrani has been alleged to have worked for MI6 and or CIA, note his alleged role in Zia assassination. But we don't know that for sure.
