Traders claim 60% fall in sale of Chinese goods

That is up to the interests of our businessmen and traders . But we proved that we can certainly do that if we want .
Out of total 75 billion$ electronic import only 25 %is from PRC ,around 19 billion$.
Of course that is a tough choice .And we can reroute that through ASEAN
But all others are possible .

See, boycott will only help us where there exist Indian manufacturers who can make competitive alternatives. Otherwise, it could even harm us. Need less to say, we can simply not boycott some things, which almost the whole world relies on China for.

I am just saying this, because I don't want you to be disappointed when the next year's trade figures come in, and there seems to be no impact.

Because frankly, in electronics, the imports will only increase.

In telecom they will only increase.

In power, they will only increase.

These are the three big things that we import from China.

The other small stuff like firecrackers are anyways not counted in official trade. And some small things, are, well, small.

Chandigarh, October 31

Social media campaign to boycott Chinese products on this Diwali culminated into a steep decline in sale of Chinese goods. According to information gathered by the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) from 20 cities across the country, there has been a 60% decline in sale of Chinese goods.

These 20 cities include Delhi, Mumbai, Nagpur, Jaipur, Ahmadabad, Kanpur, Bhopal etc which are generally considered as distribution cities.

According to an estimate, the value of Chinese goods sold in India during Diwali is around Rs 5,000 crore. Out of the total, over Rs 3,000 crore is Diwali-related gifting items such as toys, fancy lights, gift items, plastic ware, decorative goods etc. In the fireworks segment Chinese share is Rs 1,300 crore while the Indian manufacturers share has been reduced to Rs 500 crore over the years.

The influx of Chinese goods started 4-5 years ago and it has been increasing because of being economical and offering a lot of variety than Indian manufacturers.

CAIT secretary general Praveen Khandelwal said the social media campaign which reached even in the houses beside markets further intensified with a statement of Chinese media “India can only bark” and the people decided to opt for Indian products which includes decorative made from clay, plastic and paper, toffee & chocolate, dry fruits, sweets, FMCG products, Indian electronic items, kitchen equipment, utensils, gift articles, furnishing fabric, ready-made garments, bed sheets etc.

“Crackers made at Sivakasi in Tamil Nadu were more preferred in comparison to Chinese crackers,” he added.

He said, “The Government has to make latest technology available to small sectors and incur substantial expenditure on research & development. If all these steps are taken simultaneously, our trade can do wonders since we have everything at our end to give competition in global market.”

According to our Chinese friends we are not in their top 10 trade nation.
So this is good for both of us :D
Some local manufacturer manipulating the situation to down play Chiense product in the name of patriotism . But, after few months people will go back to cheaper products .

.
At least people who can afford bit high price can easily avoid Chinese good , if we use the Diyas instead of Chinese lights , we can easily put food in the plate of our poor instead in the pocket of country which tries to harm our national interest in all possible ways . We have many options available to avoid Chinese goods like :

Locks we can use Harrison
Cycles ..we should prefer Atlas or Fire fox.

I can suggest these online trading sites should have a filter with Made in India , so that we can choose the Indian stuff only.
By choosing made in india atlease we are helping some poor family in our country which can help in Poverty eradication also .

The situation is same if India start dumping its goods in Pakistan and if Pakistanis start bycotting Indian goods , Indians will try to intimidate them for repecussions .

How will you react as a Pakistani in such situation Sir ?

Pakistan is very small market and India is huge market, no comparison. But India and China has same size population . I never use any indian product so I don't know the quality and can t compare product China vs Indian manufacturer ...

.
I used India and Pakistan , just to highlight the feeling in masses , they are supporting whom we consider as terrorists , they are blocking us in NSG as citizens this is least we can do , and we are doing it .
My intentions were not to ask about quality of Indian goods ...just to highlight the feelings.

and a country of 200 million people is not a small market :)

Rivalry aside boycotting outside products would make our economy grow & also help our consumers..
Not only Chinese but on every product we have to lessen the dependency on import..We need to be self reliant..

.
At least cottage industry goods should be locally manufactured , thats will really help in pulling people out of poverty.

Chinese products are cheap mainly because their currency is seriously undervalued and they don't follow the rules while producing it like for example Chinese crackers are having more sulphur than the permitted amount in India (but this rule in India is only enforced on the factories where they are producing so production cost in India is raising) as you know the traders will always buy what gives them max profit.
Being a democracy India can't do much to restrict the Chinese goods.

Yayayaya your kind of observation has already been singled by 1 of your fellow bharati poster(read the earlier posts)

Boycott all foreign products? Fine. Do u have a replacement source for them?

Even if u have, are they of comparable quality, could be produced at the same rate and are affordable enough for the common ppl?

As usual, talk is cheap n easier said then done. Blind nationalism doesnt help build an industry and strong economy.

Dont be afraid of non action, be afraid of inaction.

WTF has to do with nationalism idiot Singapuri?Aren't you boycotting Indian goods? So let us care for ourselves.
We have enough poor who are hungry for two times meal.We have to think for ourselves in every way possible.Homegrown products will be cheaper & quality will certainly increase if people will start believing in own self.If we don't take initiation on ground it will only be a dream..

For a price sensitive people like Indians, cheap Chinese imports are simply irresistible. It doesn't matter how hard you guys try to boycott Chinese imports, Indian masses are not going to pay 30-40% premium just for "Made In India" tag, and end up with even lesser quality Indian products. As an example, the makers of Indian firecracker did not really benefit from this intense "boycott Chinese" campaign, Indians simply quit buying firecrackers all together.

India's trade deficit with China will continue to grow, until you have the capacity making Indian products more competitive than Chinese products, in both quality and pricing. After all, Indian traders are the ones who are responsible for importing those "cheap and fake" Chinese products and selling to Indian market.

Don't blame others for your own inability.
