TRADE WITH INDIA NEED OF THE HOUR, SAYS ADVISER TO THE PRIME MINISTER ON COMMERCE RAZAK DAWOOD

Whatever trade there is or was between India and Pakistan is not significant enough to force Pakistan to drop Kashmir.

If Immy K tries to drop Kashmir in exchange for a few bucks the 111 brigade will be knocking at his door, that is if the people won't have lynched him by then.
Honestly, this has nothing to do with us, nor does it have any, the slightest influence on any Indian, either those, who, like me, are waiting for a judicial determination of the legality of the orders abolishing 370 and 35A, or those, both Sanghis and misinformed ordinary people, who are jubilant, or relieved at the settlement of the 370 deadlock (I hope you know what that was due to).

As far as dropping Kashmir is concerned, when did you fail to carry it? And what has been the net result? Should we worry about 111 Brigade? Or should we worry about the people of Pakistan lynching their Prime Minister?

This is not of the slightest concern to India or to Indians.

Regarding trade, direct trade will save billions, but we are still getting to trade, and you should examine the balance of trade to figure out who is the beneficiary, and who is the sufferer from the present practice of indirect trade through third countries. Your minister said what was unthinkable; if you do not think that is of any use, good enough. We don't come into it.

Why the hell we neee trade with India? Do we import cheap oil or gas from them? Or we export some 10 billions dollars of goods to them? WTF
Look at the post above yours.

He is welcome to his opinion and I agree with him, but it can never happen until Article 370 is reversed.

That is impossible now. Article 370 when it was incorporated clearly said in BLACK AND WHITE that 370 is TEMPORARY.
It has fulfilled the purpose it was TEMPORARILY created and it ends.
There will be no reversal.
It is pure fantasy to imagine a temporary instrument can be reinstated.
India does not need this trade as Pakistan imports $3 billion worth of goods by round tripping the Gulf.
Now that the FTA has been signed between India and UAE even the tariffs India's paid in UAE are gone.
Exports to Pakistan will rise from that $ 3 billion figure and the advisor to the PM knows this to be true.

Exactly.. Wont be surprised if in few years India's export to Pakistan crosses 10 Billions.

Removing a constitutional provision illegally does not, in any way, remove it permanently.

It was a temporary work-around. Unfortunately, there was a very tightly formulated procedure for its removal. Once that was violated, it is illegal.

This is the core of the matter, not Kashmir.

Trade is all fine, but what about Kashmir? No one is opposed to trade as long as Kashmir is resolved. India doesn't want to resolve Kashmir. Instead it wants to reintegrate Pakistan into Mahabharat and swallow Kashmir.

I don't care who you are. Imran Khan, Nawaz Sharif or the Wizard of Oz. As long as Kashmir isn't resolved normalcy is impossible.

Indian side is not even trying to have trade.
This 'trade' would be almost all one way. Few sifarishi connected traders in Pakistan's corrupt elite would get the licence to just import ton of crap from India and almost nothing would be exported to India - unless you guys want few extra mullahs or dars students to do some tabligi in your country.

This would put additional stress on the skewed import/export balance. Then ex-pats Pakistani's would be implored to send more dollars to Pakistan to offset the dwindling reserves inside Pakistan.

But the few rent seeking traders would make billions, probably buy more apatments in Dubai or send money to realtives in India.

There is no solution on Kashmir.. If anything thinks that it is just a dream.

UN resolution talks about both parts - Indian and Pakistani. It can never be applied to only Kashmir.

Now, both establishments already know the reality but they can not accept it in front of their public. Ans reality is that nothing is possible - except one, need to accept the border and move on.

But As long as below suits them - nothing will be changed in South Asia
Kashmir banega Pakistan (Pakistan claim)
GB and Pak Kashmir is part of India and we will take it (Indian claim)

I was fearful that someone, somewhere would spot this skew and nail it down. You had to be the one.

We do have things to export that would make sense. There is a lot of capacity for automobile - 4 wheel and 2 wheel alike - for instance, and trucks in India are holding their own against competition, but the problem would be balancing this trade.

I'm afraid Pakistan would probably come out second best.

Yes.. This will be the most probable outcome. Even without any formal trade, India will export a lot more to Pakistan via Dubai now with FTA in place. Few traders in Pakistan will ofcourse become very rich.

#ModiKaYaar much? He is not alone in the present government, I think.

In any case there is much to be gained by both countries. Its not as though its a one-way street.

But this can only work if India addresses the Kashmir issue to find a mutually beneficial solution.
Mutually beneficial you mean, ceasing control over the valley?

Never going to happen, there is no incentive for anyone to do it. The war economy is so much normalised, that not only locals are involved in it, but also security forces got a pie in it.

The simple solution is , implement Police reforms in Kashmir. But no one going to do that.

On the question of India Pak relations, India always eye for gilgit. Enough said who wants to understand Indian equations.

There exist substantial trade between the 2 countries either under the midnight sun or through offshore markets.

Recent developments like shared geotags and religious tourism only highlight the strides made by respective governments.

Indian auto sector would wipe out the auto cottage mafia in Pakistan. I would think trucks and coaches would al;so go the same way.

You could be magnanimous by importing surpus mullahs and taking in some dars students thus balancing out the balance sheet.

No?

For god sake, instead of dreaming on Jammu Kashmir, instead concentrate on your own citizens who are really robbed of their right as citizens of Pakistan such as Gilgit Baltistan.
We have poverty, hunger etc in Sindh, Balochistan, and we are just to obsessed with Kashmir.

Perhaps I am missing something. Who loses if there is no trade with India? Not India.
Actually, Indian Punjab had a decent amount of trade with Pakistani side. I would bet that the economy of this state will get a boost if trade with Pakistan is resumed.

Trade between India and Pakistan is not possible because of the geopolitics of this region. This thread is meant to tease and troll nationalistic Pakistanis who get triggered when a random dove within the administration makes an insignificant comment
