The government’s health budget for 2021 has doubled since the beginning of the year to Rp 193.93 trillion (US$1.34 billion) as the pandemic continues to worsen and affect more and more Indonesians.

Finance Minister Sri Mulyani said the budgeted funds were for diagnostics, testing and tracing, health equipment, COVID-19 hospital treatment and a financial incentive for healthcare workers. The budget allocation has been increased multiple times, from Rp 87.55 trillion to Rp 172 trillion and Rp185 trillion before reaching Rp193.93 trillion after the latest increase announced on Monday.

Sri Mulyani said the government had procured more than 53.9 million doses of coronavirus vaccines so far as it sought to increase the vaccine rollout to 2 million doses per day as soon as possible and to 3 million doses per day by October.

It seems this virus is not seasonal and thrives in hot places unlike most flu viruses which only thrive in cold places. How weird is that?

Jakarta has started mass vaccination program for 12-17 years old kids. The vaccination for kids will be focused on Java island first as the infection rate is quite high in this Indonesia main island (more than half Indonesian live here)

IMO we got this Indian variant is due to Malaysia lock down. As we know many Indians ethnics (who has relation with Indian in India) are in Malaysia and spread this in Malaysia, later Malaysia did some preliminary lock down and Indonesians working there come back home. I dont know whether this people get PCR test as they usually use ships (instead of plane with tougher measure) to go to Sumatra from Peninsula Malaysia or they use illegal way.

Malaysian Indian not a problem. They are Malaysian. Most mamak restaurant in Malaysia uses Indian from Indian and also plantation workers mostly from Indian.
This is how Indian variant spread.

There are many illegal Indonesians working in Malaysia they entered by boats. Estimated at peak time 3 millions Indonesian is working in construction site in Malaysia. They goes to mamak shop and get infected and then return to Indonesia.

Just like US to say and do is another matter. But the other 30 countries affected by the Indian variants don't play blame games like the US and India. Because we believed in world community. This prove US leadership has deterioted worst than a 3rd world countries. They are behaving like a 4th world country by the second. Putting themselves close to a pariah regime.

The government is quite fast to be aware and handle it.

Supermarkets are the problem. Modern supermarkets are cold and have no sunlight and crowded. They shut down schools in Canada but not supermarkets and so covid cases exploded. Same is happening in Indonesia.

Too expensive for booster shots. Plus, the more booster shots they do, the more the virus mutates to counter booster shots.
