Touch and Go for F-18, Near impossible for Rafale M

In starting of 2000s, no one in India expected that US-India relations would ever be this close any soon (as US had faced it's 9/11 and Pakistan was a critical ally at that time , so American jets were out of option.)

And the only other thing was Rafale M, the firs Rafale offer to India was made by 2008. So when the designs were frozen in early 2000s, the only option India had was that of Harrier Jump Jet, Su33 and Mig29.
If true then I am afraid even F-18 are not coming and it would be some latest version of MIG 29 or SU 33.

.
So basically whole ship was designed keeping only two jets in mind ? Like seriously ?

Indian military is the best ally of Pakistan. They never disappoint.

Indians are buying F/A-18s for their old aircraft carrier and plan to operate MIG-29Ks on their new carrier.

unless untill Checkmate or PAKFA doesn't shows up on carrier Russians don't have anything to offer as of now since MIG-29 & SU-33 both are not in production

IN has already confirmed that both F-18 & Rafale are compliant for both carriers

Russian fighters are a piece of junk.

You should have designed to operate much more capable Western fighters.

But I am not complaining. I am enjoying the colossal failure of the Indians.

Russian FADEC is the main issue. Therefore no more Mig29K or even additional Mig29 for IAF will ever come. Su33 development is stalled for more than a decade now.

For the time being , everything except the engines of Mig29K is being worked upon. Indian Mission computers are already under testings, universal launchers of Astra BVR is under works and local AESA is being worked upon. Its expected within few years, other smaller issues except the engine will be rectified.

This the 42 strong Mig29K will be good enough for the 2 Carriers.

In addition a small amount of LCA Navy will likely be procured as training/air defence platforms.

Have you seen the lifts of Vikramaditya?

. . . . . . . .
So your Naval fighter deal is another MMRCA tamasha.

Just keep talking, cancelling, restarting just to fool the world.
The last approval for Naval aviation came for 6 P8I and 10 Ka31s. I am not seeing anything signed yet.

This Fighter deal is newer, if at all it will happen, it will take time.

It is good for us if they are stuck with Mig-29K.

Most of the issues with MiG29Ks have been fixed, its availability rate has gone up significantly, and it's being upgraded by HAL with new indigenous mission computers right now that would enable us to equip it with latest locally development avionics and weapons.
