MOSCOW: The first fully indigenous Su-30MKI fighter plane will roll off Indian assembly lines in 2010, a top executive at Hindustan Aeronautics Limited said on Wednesday.

“Next year, HAL will achieve 100 per cent indigenisation of the Sukhoi aircraft — from the production of raw materials to the final plane assembly,” V. Balakrishnan, general manager, Aircraft Manufacturing Division, told The Hindu here.

A five-member HAL delegation is taking part in MAKS-2009, Russia’s international air show now under way here.

Out of the 230 Su-30MKI air superiority multirole fighters the Indian Air Force plans to induct by 2015, 140 aircraft are to be built in India. License production began in 2004, with the first planes assembled from knockdown kits supplied by Russia. The programme provided for a gradual increase in the number of parts and components produced locally.

Last year, HAL mastered the manufacture of the wing and the tail. This year, it started producing the fuselage and raw materials, Mr. Balakrishnan said. The final and most challenging phase involved the indigenous manufacture of the engine.

“We’re currently testing the locally produced engine for the Su-30MKI and are planning to launch its production in 2010.” HAL would manufacture 60 Su-30MKI fighters in the full production cycle till 2015, he said.

India also plans to sign an inter-governmental agreement (IGA) with Russia for supply of HAL-manufactured Sukhoi airframes for third countries. :woot:It is already supplying some avionics equipment for Sukhoi aircraft Russia is building for third countries.

Later this year, India and Russia would sign a design accord for a fifth generation fighter aircraft they agreed to build jointly in 2007. India would be responsible for the manufacture of composite-material parts of the airframe, avionics and software packages, Mr. Balakrishnan said.

The Russian single-seat version of the fifth generation fighter plane is expected to make its maiden flight in the coming winter. India will induct a twin-seat version.

Oh God another BS in the air by HAL, you cant even able to perfect Kaveri, how would you be able to make engines for Su 30.

kaveri was an effort to developan indegenous engine ....where as the tech and specifics for the su 30 engine would be given by the russians ....similar to the tech for other parts of su 30mki

Poor attempt at a flame bait....if you want to try to insult us, dont start by displaying your stupidity.....Lesson 1 for you!!

Lesson 2: Kaveri is an indegenous effort at building an engine for LCA etc....comparable to Pakistan producing Al-Khalid lets say.
India producing Su-30 engine under license is equivalent to Pakistan producing the JF-17 in Pakistan under license from China......I hope I spelt the difference.

its not a warning sign mate....its an exclamation sign.:D It uses for stronge feeling, high volume or for punctuation.:coffee:

Yes it is .... Triangle is used for warning signs and when exclamation mark is in the middle than it can be considered as 'undescribed warning' of course filled with yellow color!

Maybe its your feelings that make you interpret it so....Just a thought...

Of course indians cannot be wrong.... specially on Pakistan defence forum..
I leave it to you ... use it as you believe it should function...
Have fun.

It would be a great achievement by the HAL specially if aircraft of such caliber is prepared indigenously and that from material to the final bolt in the assembly line. SU30 in Indian Air Force... I feel jealous sometimes!

A question from PAF experts: India is going to produce nearly 250 SU-30 and through some YouTube Videos, I have learned it is one of the best 4.5 Gen Air-Crafts in the world. What capacity do we have to counter them? 36 J-10s is not a response I guess?

Friend first question is J-10 comparable to sukhoi-30MKI? in everything from hardware to software (sukhoi-30MKI designed by russia while internal software is by israel). Now question is, is china better than russia in hardware? And is china better than israel in software? If yes that J-10 Jindabaad but trust me china no where near russian hardware and israel software. J-10 cant match sukhoi-30MKI. 240 sukhoi-30MKI is alot my friend. To counter it pakistan would be needing 500 J-10s. Cheers.

The only major difference between an Su30 MKI and F22 raptor is Su30MKI lacks stealth and supercruise. As far as what ive heard, Su30 MKI's maneuverability rating is more than that of an F22.

But u r free to believe it as an Indian BS.:)
