I remember the days where Kemalists attacked US troops in our country for many good reasons, and islamists were the ones shielding themselves against Kemalists in a bid to protect US soldiers.

Secularism is our only option. Islamists will always, willingly, be puppets of US because they know that their means of income are not sustainable and it can only be sustained by a fucked up external power like US.

Sure, but you're an adult.

Saving face isn't always a good thing, T.
And being blind is never a good thing Solomon.
See,i understand your point of view regarding Israeli interests but come on,you are an intelligent person, are you that blind to not see that the CIA had a hand in this?
All the coups in my country were CIA ''orchestrated'',either direct involvement or use of proxies.
''How do you know this'' you might ask and i will tell you that i knew in 1999 that the AKP would rule my country in 2002.
The AKP was founded in 2001(?????)

Can't act on emotions. For example, Turkey is involved in NATO projects and won't/can't abandon such projects just yet. You can count on it that once Turkey gets even more self-suffient military and defence industry wise, gets even a broader and deeper partnership rolling with Russia and China and is done with all NATO projects, then Turkey can decide to ditch the NATO.
That is what people are missing. We are not in a position to dumb NATO or USA or EU. Our economy is still too small. Our people are still too poor ($10k per capita ffs). Quarter of our economy directly, half of our economy indirectly is made up by European trade. Almost all of the R&D, foreign investment, educational and research platforms are all thanks to the partnerships we have with US and EU.

So even though militarily we are very dependent on west too, it is not the only story as well.

Until we reach like $20.000 per capita (which would mean about $40.000 in PPP) and solve all those dependencies (none of which will ever be solved completely ever as globalism doesn't work like that), we will have to remain in NATO and act in accordance with its needs and demands.

Apart from NATO and EU, when we can say "F*ck off!" to the US? That will take until USD becomes obsolete as the world reserve currency, which has a loong way to go to happen.

We shouldn't think black and white either. Nobody said, not even Turkish govt, that trade and business ties will be cut with the EU or US. That's simply impossible, unless the US and EU decide to sanction us. However, military and geopolitical (and trade and business) ties should be upgraded with Russia and China while US/Nato military and geopolitical ties should be degraded.

Gdp per capita is not really relevant in becoming more independant or dropping US/Nato military and geopolitical ties. China and Russia are poor Gdp per capita wise compared to the US, but they have technological knowledge, might and a voice in the world. S. Korea and some European countries, for example, are rich gdp per capita, but are nothing on the international stage due to their strategic geopolitical disadvantage (too many big and strong neighbors, small size, low population or negative future prospects such as low birth, too many elders etc.). Among the things our country needs is self-sufficieny in critical military and civilian high-end technology asap. Even the operation in Syria shows (lack of Akkor, lack of big number of armed UAV's etc.) that our defence industry has no time to waste

You really don't grasp what lying propaganda is all about, do you? Your intellect may accept that you've swallowed a lie but the hatred it induced remains to warp your convictions, and thus its purpose is accomplished. And it's your overweening pride - what the ancient Greeks called hubris - that's keeping you from healing yourself of this condition. I have two eyes, but you, my friend, are as blind as Oedipus.

CIA already acknowledged they staged a coup in our country. Why believing that they may have done it again is delusional and blindness?

Solomon, why should i hate,am i not the first one to acknowledge that interests are more important then the rest, like friendship/honesty/fairness etc?
Even Israel, our ally for so many years has good relations with our enemies, its all about interests, nothing more.
We just have to accept that and move on to protect and go after our own interests.

@Zulkarneyn @usernameless You seem to have missed the part about it being fake news.

Seeing stuff like this being posted by a resident propagandist like you is kinda funny.
"kinda"? Not really funny, is it?

Not everybody is the same at all. Israelis are not Turks. Even though it was within Israel's rights to do so under Mandate Law, the Israelis did not massacre or death march the Arabs who rebelled from their rule; despite these Arabs' hate and enmity, the Jews have charitably assisted in providing food, shelter, and medical care to them. It is not in the interest of Israel "the state" to do so; it's in the interest of Jews' humanitarianism to do so.

We just have to accept that and move on to protect and go after our own interests.
Nevertheless, I do think Jews overdo it when it comes to providing comfort to their vicious enemies, yes. A better balance needs to be struck.

Just like it was in the interest of humanitarianism when Turks during the Ottoman Empire era took in the Jews from Spain and other countries, charitably assisted, fed them, gave shelter, medicly cared for and gave them a future to live for.
Looks like we are at a standstill my friend, what you say?
