The American government is being pressured for a war against Iran for at least after Iraq was destroyed and it is the same lobby. Iran is Israel's only threat in the region. The only one. @Arminkh Unfortunately it seems that if someonein this forum is critical of IRI, they are viewed as anti Iranian. I really like Iran and it's people, in the other hand those mullahs and company are not working to improve the country but to enrich themselves.

That is another debate. the original debate was about "effect of increasing oil Prices on US". which is answered as "none". sure remaining world will be effected, but not US, in the way you said.

Edit : the US can extract shell oil for USD 55-60 Per barrel. which was considered as the "previous" norm. it was not feasible for US to extract oil when oil prices were as low as $ 30/b . so they start importing.

The day International oil Prices Hit $60+/b. US will stop importing oil and will fulfill it's need's by extracting Shell oil.

and i don't think $5-6/b increase in Price will effect US economy that hard.

When Iraq's Oil alone was taken out of market the price of Oil hit over $100 per barrel! In a war with Iran prices will easily hit over $200 pb and it doesn't matter if the U.S. drills into it's reserves or not the U.S. is not going to be left without Oil! It's the cause and effect on the global market that will destroy the U.S. economy!

Why would any investor buy Google stocks when they know their money will easily double if they invest in Oil? the U.S. can't control the price of Oil & can't stop investors from selling their stocks and investing in Oil if war was to take place with Iran!

All the money will go into Oil and yes the U.S. will drill & even export Oil but that's not going to stop the market and investors from doing what's in their interest

I'll repeat my self "I NEVER SAID" U.S. will be left without Oil! Oil will be there but the price of Oil will hit $200 pb and with the current shape of the U.S. economy when your national debt is greater than your GDP and you owe trillions in foreign debt that is a disaster!

When a companies stock value falls they will have no choice but to fire people

Iran is going to be going after Oil facilities & the Oil market and that is a fact Iran has made clear for a long time!
