What's new

Top Ten World Economies in 2018 | IMF

I dont need to recheck Herrenknecht is WORLD MARKET LEADER and they completely OWN the Chineses tunnel boring market and all major project expect ONE is done with Herrenknecht boring mashines... they have THREE plants in China were they build boring mashines in Guangzhou allone are since 2001 76Herrenknecht boring mashines at work drilling 230km ...each of them 48m a day or 691m a month

Suez Canal Crossing, London Metro, New York subway, nearly every subway in China, Gotthard tunnel, Soshi subway everywere is Herrenknecht

they totaly dominate the market
Bro, the largest TBM maker in China is CREG. Herrenknecht uses their China factory for export, since they can't compete with the Chinese manufacturers domestically. Please stop being so egoistic, check the facts. Nobody is denying HerrenK is big worldwide but you need to start realizing the biggest domestic manufacturer is CREG and they are starting to export under the Aker Wirth brand. Germans are just too expensive, nobody is doubting the quality, but $ speaks louder.

Ever wonder why they are exporting from China? Because the supply chain is in China, not in Germany anymore. They can produce the machines cheaper and faster.

The moment we bought KUKA, I can tell you Germany is declining. The world will be multipolar and Germany is not the pole, you are under American patronage.

.
TBMs are nothing new, the patents already expired long ago, unless for propriety components. China can manufacture TBM competitively for the past 10 years, that's when we started the rail and metro construction boom. Germans used to occupy a huge chunk of this market, currently their China factory is tuned towards export rather than the domestic market.

Please guys, stop bashing our Turkish friends, some might be closet Indians all we know. Everybody have their own egos and pride, same like our Turkish friends. If they are ignorant educate them politely. But we cannot deny the fact Turkey with a smaller population does have on average better living standards.
I think you're right that the Chinese Tunnel Boring Machines (TBM) are perfectly legal reverse-engineered versions.

The Channel Tunnel used a massive TBM for construction in 1988.

Patents are valid for 20 years after filing (under the Uruguay Round Agreements Act).

This means the patents for the Channel Tunnel TBM expired in 2008.

Chinese TBMs are perfectly legal indigenous versions. The TBM patents expired 10 years ago.

Well,I really hope we don't ruin this thread .

I guess we should blame @Khan_21,he was the first one here to mention Turkey ,I asked him a question and still don't get his answer

I think enough on Turkey.
No point to bad mouth Turkey because of closet Indians and Turkey based Uyghurs or their symphatizers.

Baidu completes road test of driverless car in Silicon Valley
China Plus, January 9, 2018

Chinese internet and technology giant Baidu has completed a road test of its L4 driverless car, which is equipped with its Apollo2.0 autonomous driving platform, reports thepaper.cn.

Baidu conducted this road test on Friday at its research center in Sunnyvale in Silicon Valley.

The center, which mainly focuses on autonomous driving research, was launched in November 2017.

It is the third research center in the United States for Baidu. It is also the internet giant's second office in Silicon Valley.

According to SAE International, a U.S.-based standards developing organization for engineering professionals in various industries, vehicle automation is categorized into six levels, from L0 to L5. The higher the level, the more automated the vehicle is.

Both occupied and unoccupied vehicles that are qualified for L4, or Full Self-Driving Automation, are designed to perform all safety-critical driving functions and monitor roadway conditions without human control.

In April last year, Baidu announced the "Apollo" project, which provides an open, complete and reliable software platform for its partners in the automotive and autonomous driving industry to develop their own autonomous driving systems.

It's reported that Baidu's Appolo2.0 autonomous driving platform will be officially released on Tuesday at the 2018 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

You might be correct. If it is true, I retract the TBM from China's list of high-technology. However, that still leaves a mountain of Chinese high-technology.

for the time being , there are at least hundreds of different kinds of huge tbms working in China, most of them made by chinese company, one is here,
