Schon walay tou koi dubai me kisi scandal me nahi pharay gye? Schon and Bahria, just show how Pakistan is best destination for the corrupt and corrupt practices.
But to be fair, if we compare around the world the groups don't seem like that big. India me tou 2, 3 groups ki itni monoply hai, that there isn't any opening for a newbie.

I think Lucky Group (Younas Brothers Group) is missing.

"The brokerage firm Topline Securities recently prepared a list of the biggest holding companies in Pakistan. Among the nine that met the criteria, two conglomerates stood aloft with over $1 billion in market capitalisation.

According to the carefully calculated numbers, Engro Corporation (Engro) turns out to be the biggest with $1.24bn in market capitalisation, followed by Lucky Cement commanding a market cap of $1.06bn.

The second billion dollar holding company Lucky Cement, one of the largest producers of cement and a leading garment exporter of the country, is owned by the Yunus Brothers group which also holds stakes in textiles (Lucky Textile, Yunus Textile, Gadoon Textile and Fazal Textile) and energy (Lucky Energy). The group has partnered with Korea based KIA Motors to set up an automobile facility in Pakistan with equity injection of Rs14bn."

This is more informative than the IPRI chart.

No, I am talking about apple microsoft google etc.

You are greatly mistaken in this case.

Microsoft has existed since 1975. They're nearly 50 years old. Google is 25 years old.

Software is intrinsic to modern society, it is as important to society today as cement, bricks, wood, steel.

There will be a time where we might not use steel, or cement, but there will not be a time where we stop using software.

What I am talking about is the investment aspect of these companies they grow with a rapid pace but than burst more quickly. Nokia, Erricson, Motorolla, cisco are some of the examples.

Bahria number seems fake.... Heck they agreed to pay Supreme Court around Rs 480b in fines.... Which at the times exchange rate was about $3.5b.

If a company has that much cash lying around how come their net worth is just slightly more than that? I think Bahria might easily be around $10b.

Further to put things in perspective Apple has a net worth of about $2000b. One oldie uncle in this thread called it a 'bubble'. No wonder Pakistan is nowhere in the tech sector. Our ministries and government agencies are manned by these boomer uncles who don't know alif bay of tech.
