Top 20 most polluted cities in the world

. .
Sorry, not my job

It's our common mission, pals !!!

From the article
(CNN) -- Air quality in most cities that monitor their pollution levels exceed what the World Health Organization deems as safe.
Delhi has the highest level of the airborne particulate matter, PM2.5 considered most harmful to health, with 153 micrograms. Not far behind is another Indian city, Patna with 149 micrograms. These figures are six times what the WHO considers a "safe" limit -- which is 25 micrograms.

The report on May 2014. Let me update PM 2.5 for you
Now:
Shanghai: 161
Beijing: 144
Dehli: 181
Mumbai 87

What's your advice to reduce those pollution ?
For some certain phases, a society cannot do too much, as in the cases of US, UK and Japan when they rapidly developed. Otherwise, people in these developing countries will lose jobs which to them are more crucial to environment I think.:-)

feel bad that Indian cities are there but still we will try to make our cities pollution free or reduce it !

Half of the top 20 cities in the world with the highest levels of PM 2.5 were in India, according to the pollution data released by the WHO, which included 1,600 cities. Other cities with high levels were located in Pakistan and Bangladesh.

Delhi has been described as having weak enforcement of pollution controls by India's Center for Science and Environment, a public interest group.

"Originally designed as compact entities to reduce the length of travel ... (Indian cities) are becoming victims of killer pollution, congestion ... and a crippling car-dependent infrastructure," according to the group.

Air pollution has spread by increasing reliance on fossil fuels, coal-fired power plants, cars and the use of biomass for cooking and heating.

Cities with the lowest level of pollution were located in Canada, the United States, Finland, Iceland and Sweden.

This time CNN is doing what it should have done - pure messenger for the pro - the WHO
Thank goodness it doesnt express its own opinion much
India is choking itself seriously before it is fully industrialised

Cities where our Indian brothers live dominate this list, they should exert some effort in helping to clean their environment.

Easy. We outsource dirty factories to underdeveloped countries like Vietnam. Hence the reason no Chinese city at top 20 most polluted.
That would only make them rich. China put in more regulations and newer pollution control technology to reduce pollution while producing the same products . We do not need to shift production to anti Chinese countries.

.
What's your advice to reduce those pollution ?

As far as China is concern, we will export "polluted factories" potentially to Vietnam and India, cut coal plants and replace with cleaning energies such build more Dams on Tibet rivers before for it enter other's countries. Build more high speed trains and limits polluted cars. are these sound reasonable solutions to our polution problem???:D

according to the pollution data released by the WHO, which included 1,600 cities.
But aren't there 2000 more cities in the world which they ignored then?

I've gone there to visit cousins. There is a place called Misaeed very close to Doha which has all the petrochemical factories. There are also Sand dunes located close in Misaeed where people go to ride beach buggies. I went for the same and could smell the fumes from these factories . This and the ever blowing sand makes for a toxic combination. If you live there for a long time, it's like smoking several cigarettes a day. That could be the reason why it's featured in this list.

I didn't even know that bro. All the pictures of Qatar and its ranking as one of the richest nations in the world do not point in this direction-that it is one of pollution capitals of the world.

.
Isn't Doha like really clean... from the pics it looks so... also its close to Dubai so it can't be that bad. I'm wondering what is the source of this "study"
khorramabad is the main city of Lurestan province in iran .

Its really clean and in no way one of the most "polluted" in the world

.
It is strange that Manila is not in the list. With the amount of smoke belching vehicles clogging the city's skyline (thanks to jeepneys and a few un-maintained city buses), I am pretty that Manila is polluted and this doesn't yet include the garbage problem.
