China has strategic deterrence to the point where US wont be aggresor agaisnt China, but neither will USA allow Chinese aggression either in SCS or against Japan. China will remian confined to its present boundaries only. USN would not want to engage China unnecessarily but same time if China forces USN into a conflict then PLAN will be eliminated.

and the inability of China will be exposed further in this Japan China fiasco of present.

However I am sure 50 years ago any people with reasonable foresight would agree that in the future India and China would be an important player in the world stage. For me I always have known the role India will play even before its economy pick its pace in the last century. So anyone who underestimate India is being shortsighted.

This century being Asian century and BRICS nations are more believable and realistic vision.

There may be sudden IMPULSIVE action which can change the trajectories which I think US is capable of doing. What we need especially India is disputes between Inda and China left untouched or low profile for at least 2 decades, Pakistan-India increasing more Economic Interdependency.

This whole region of Iran-Pakistan and Afghanistan is a play ground for giants like Russia, China and India. If we agree not to play Zero-Sum game, we can become more important in world front which I think China has reached while Russia(economically more than defense) and India(both economically and in defense) are trying to catch up.

Another aspect is India and China's influence in Africa. We should have detailed discussion or thread on this aspect as it is not discussed that much.

Start reasoning than thinking logically. Even China had enough firepower to grab India's major part during 1962 and even after that but they acted smart. War in countries like us, the developing one causes downturn and slowdown of economy while for developed countries like US, its a good business. look at 2012, exact 50 years later after 1962, instead of owning parts of India, they are new Superpower of THE WORLD.

China is your all-weather friend, start taking advice from them especially when economics is concerned. If you would have took their advice, you might be in better condition in which you are now.

Look at China, $ 3 million in researve, $7.5 trillion (hope I'm right), their least growth rate being 8%(which if we have, we would be boasting to entire world). Yes, basically i do deny that fact. If push comes to shove i have no doubt who would be the winner. So much defense budget money buys plenty. And it's plenty of the good stuff.

But that wasn't the point, a better question would be why would US go to war with China? Surely not WW3 because of some rocks?
If you are monitoring these situations im sure you are aware of the dispute with the Japanese that is ongoing now. Seems there's no backing down there, like it was implied in the Phillipines case.
