Story is that the Roohafsa was created by an British Raj Indian Muslim in the early 1900. When Paksitan and India were seperated he sent one son to Paksitan and one to India to open up 2 different companies with the same name. So technically Roohafsa belongs to whole of subcontinent.

@ghazi52 few thoughts on the topic
Though I would agree that these brands have presence International not purely trans-continental with a caveat not purely global products/brands. The market niche is primarily desi community (means pakistanis mostly) I have seen how Indians look at "Made in Pakistan Label" while buying, don't even want to talk about the cretin west of them, always reminds me of bitter taste in my mouth while visiting jackson heights/N.Y.

@bafxet UBL too will be closing its US operations soon same old sh*t AML/CTF. Yes true there is no genuine global brand. Shortsighted entrepreneur with no vision, here's a curve ball the highest paid CFO in Sitara group Faisalabad earns a hefty sum of Rs.140k salary per month. Interloop/JK/MTM are different cases they are contract manufacturers with no vision to start their own brand. US Denim/Apparell well almost the same case they are driven by what Meezan Bank advises them to. Sialkot same same. Multan a textile exporter with exports of over 150 million dollars, all frigging offset by an import of $220 million (I think there is a case of ML involved but not my job) all grey cloth.

@American Pakistani hitech equipment thats just pure greed and stupidity case, even those who had their own production facilities here have shifted to contract manufacturing from china (lower cost)

Case in point Proton (malaysia) started as a JV with Toyota, Proton developed its own expertise over the years and got rid of Toyota as a brand logo, look at Honda Pakistan, Toyota Indus, Pak Suzuki, Alhaj FAW (might have missed few) never developed any local expertise, never ventured beyond the crap the Japanese are giving.

Pharmaceuticals no basic manufacturing, exports yes but primarily to af-ghand-istan, sri lanka, and few African countries.

Worked up a complete business plan for launch of private banking platform out of DIFC dubai, never took off because people don't want to understand banking/f.i beyond deposit taking institutions, no one want to part with initial cash outlays of 20 million dollars with 2 million dollars consultation fee.
